Leaving Soldat
« on: October 02, 2007, 04:46:11 pm »
My Name is Eden, (And I'm aware there's a separate topic for this, But I felt that would be a bit impersonal, So hear me out)

You may or may not of heard of me, I've been playing Soldat since 1.3.1 or so, and have always stuck to the INF circuit.

To be honest, I was thinking of making this post something like what I think of the community change since 1.3.1, and how I less and less like the players around me, But, I realised that isn't the problem with me. It's like a long relationship that you've known for a while was slowly going downhill but you've been trying to postpone it for as long as you can. But in the end, you realise it's for the best. Soldat just isn't my game anymore, I'm not going to go out marking any person or anything for my leaving, I just don't enjoy the game anymore, which is shame.

I've never been an active member of this board, Either, as you can tell from my low post count of course, but I've always liked the people here and have read often, so I come to you to give my thanks to certain people (Who won't know me, no doubt).

FliesLikeABrick for his wonderful servers and service to the community and this board. Chakra for his dedication to Soldat,  beta testing, etc. EnEsCe, for his dedication and being a good role model to me as a teenager and to the community, showing that people CAN change from what they once were.  Leo, for his wonderful servers, dedication, and great community that he maintains on his website and IRC. ElephantHunter for his work on this board. And Michal Marcincowski for nurturing this brilliant game to what it is today, which kept me entertained for many hours.

I'd also like to thank anyone else that helps the community, all of you who host servers, anyone whose ever banned a hacker, protected a noob, and stood up for what is right, and generally anyone that plays soldat to have fun, and have a good time with other players.

I wish you all good luck, and I hope in the years to come that this amazing game reaches out to teenagers, or people of any age really, and gives them the hours of Joy that it gave me. Thankyou Soldat.
Is that what you ordered?

So basically you havent been playing for very long, you havent been part of the community, you know pretty much noone on the forum, yet you think anyone will care that you leave?
No offense, but noone gives a flying sh*t, so a post in the leaving/back section would be MORE than enough.

peace.

If you expect us to take you seriously... well then you should have actually been a part of the forum community.

Some random kid is leaving that I have never heard of? Oh gee golly gosh lets all suck up to him so he will stay.

Omg Eden is leaving... that guy was so funny. I hope this is just a joke.

Which one of these do you think you fall under? Anyway being a jerk aside you have played since 1.3.1 and limited yourself to one mode? I am gonna say this to you and all the other kids out there.... Stop taking this game seriously If you can think of soldat as a long term relationship then its best to just take a break and play another game... do you really think every here only plays soldat? I could go on but I would probably just get mean when I don't mean to be... so to sum up, get more involved and realize its just a freaking game. Do those two things and you will be ok. Or leave if you want, not like I actually know who the heck you are.

Also we have the Going away topic so posts like "No one cares" Or "GTFO" don't come up. Its not about you this rule was made so don't think just cause you don't like it you have the right to make this topic to begin with.

Hello there Eden,

I also play on INF and I've seen you many times. It's really sad to see a member of the Soldat family leave.
The players around you will not always be good, most of the time they just enter a game to make fun of everyone or a particular player or noob just because they had a rough day/life or got owned on some other server.

Getting to know people in Soldat is really easy - just show your funny/good side and show people you enjoy the game.
Greet the good shots and players, don't swear or insult people who scream and whine all the time.
I've also been in many periods in which I hate Soldat, it's boring and I have no will to play.
I enter a server and just freeze. No emotions. I get owned a lot, people say it out loud (which I hate the most) and that gets me very frustrated. Before I used to act like a nerd and swear in the chat until I get flamed and kicked by every player.

But one day I understood how to keep moving on in Soldat - use the frustration to keep you alive.
That's how I never got to feel Soldat boring for over a year.
When Soldat got boring to me, it made me mad. Players drive me nuts when they start screaming how they own me so much.
This inspires me to show them not to mess with me. That's how those who make fun of me, suffer absolute humiliation without bothering to use a single word.

I had those moments when I think I'll put an end to Soldat. The moments when everyone jumps on you and you have noone to rely upon.

That's when Soldat tests you - are you good enough for it, or do you have a weak character?

I won't call boredom weak character though. You say you're bored. Then move on to another game and forget about Soldat.
It's very possible that you start missing it in a week, even a few days.

Just remember to be strong and not to care about what everyone thinks or says.
Personally I'll never let boredom or a jerky player to make me quit Soldat.
Learn to live with idiots and lags, as they exist in real life too.
There has to be balance on this Planet. Play on the good side.

That's from me.  I hope this somehow made you reconsider your Soldat days.
Soldat teaches you a lot of things. Learn to find them.
Is it really worth it to quit such a lovely game?

I'm sure you'll return.
Soldat doesn't forgive.

Well I stick to the CTF "circuit" ... is circuit the correct word for it? I don't know... maybe sub-community.

CTF is more fun that INF, and that's probably why you're giving up so early.

... or maybe you just haven't played my mod  :P

But I don't care about Eden! I don't play INF that much, but I believe that I've seen you around there somewhen back. Never knew you though.

I care for each one of you. You leave the Soldat family.
If you're a noob/retard/badass - Balance will screw. You make the game more interesting. Needs colorful players. Quiet game only = boredom.
If you're good, I'll miss you even more. Another good comrade fallen = less opposition against nerds/noobs/whiners.
Ballance again screws up. The evil noobs win. Respectful players miss a challenging game against someone whose expecience can be useful to obtain skills from.

I never leave soldat for good. I had pauses of months and years, but I'll always return to soldat in the end.
If I were to leave, I would say my goodbyes to my soldat friends, and be on my way to new adventures.

Someone would probably care if I left soldat, but perhaps few or none on THIS forum.

I will care when he leaves.

In a good or bad way? ;)

I bet he's creating a new account plus he's probably checking back on this thread. You can't just leave the Soldatforums are like drugs that get you high and addicted to them. You don't just say "I'm never going to do drugs again" it takes time.
