Scenery problem
« on: October 04, 2007, 11:14:51 pm »
I am making a map that looks 3d and i need to put polys behind the player, so i screenshot the polys and make it a picture (PNG) and insert it as scenery behind the player but when i do i get white lines around the scenery and it looks ugly, i want it to look as close as possible to polys

Picture of problem

Help would be greatly appreciated

Are you using Paint.NET to make the sceneries?

nice map!(that part of it).

Did you make everything around the scenery green?
The green, that soldat uses as transparent.

Yes i am using Paint.NET to make my scenery by making the backround in polyworks all one colour, magic wand in paint.NET then deleting it to make it transparent. Is it something to do with Panit.NET that makes the ugly white line?

I have also noticed that when i zoom in all the way there is a thin white line completely unbroken, less than 1 pixel wide.

Thanks for your comment Kevin.

Yes, I've had the same problem with the white lines around the scenery.  It is most likely because of Paint.NET, it seems.

Use GIMP or try filling the background with one color in Paint.NET, go to MSPaint, and fill it with the default lime green color on the palette.

Use Photoshop... or make the image a bit bigger resising it to 105% or so and if the edge of the image is white, it hides under the polygon...

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what causes it?

Because sometimes, if you stretch the texture, some bits of the other texture can merge with the other, per example, if you got a grass & rock texture, and the grass is up, some bits of rock texture can go high... i can't explain this very well... i don't know why you have this problem...
