I got a question what would happen to the airplane if instead on a treadmill it was inside a moving train (opposite direction same speed)

... If the plane was inside a train, but facing the rear and moving forward at X speed whilst the train is moving in the other direction at X speed.... uhh the plane would crash through the carriages at X speed until it went out the back off the train. .... that's pretty much the same question as what happens if someone is on a moving train and they run in the opposite direction to its movement at exactly the same speed.... they'd just run into a door or something..

Seriously guys.... these questions are ÜBER-Lame. Think up something intelligent that's difficult to answer.

Answer the midget question then, smartass.

I assume you mean midget in reference to a very short person with normal proportions,  instead of dwarf. A big midget will never be the same size as a SMALL person, for what would be the point of setting a the limit of "big midget" = "small person", it defeats the purpose. Once the threshold is crossed, then you change phrases.

I was wondering about question three, surely it depends on which stage of evolution this human is - for example, homo habilis was an average of 1.3 metres tall, which would no doubt seem like a midget to us modern men. By comparison, the average height of homo erectus was around 1.79 metres, so many people of seemingly normal stature today would perhaps be considered midgets to homo erectus.

As for other genuseses, how far do we go? It is said that chimpanzees are at least 95% similar in DNA to modern humans, and they don't even stand 1 metre tall.

lol it's just a hypothetical question just pretend the train infinitely big.
Would the airplane lift off or not?

If the train was infinitely big, it wouldn't matter at all.

You guys should stop arguing about the plane and focus towards the midget question.

Lift would be generated, because the air inside the train is moving with the train.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

You didn't answer it fully - in fact, you didn't answer it at all.

0,(9) = 1 is a mathematical paradox:

0,999... = 0,(9)
x = 0,(9)
10x = 9,(9)
10x - x = 9,(9) - 0,(9)
9x = 9
x = 1
0,(9) = 1

Huh, I always thought a number = that number. 5.11111... doesn't equal 5 I thought, isn't it the same type of problem, or am I just stupid. I am bad at math btw.

It's a mathematical paradox. There's even a way to get 1 = 2 !

EDIT:
Here it is:
Quote
a = b     Let's pick two equal numbers, a and b.
a^2 = a b     Multiply both sides by a.
a^2 - b^2 = a b - b^2     Subtract b^2 from both sides.
(a - b)(a + b) = b (a - b)     Factor each side using algebra.
a + b = b     Cancel the common factor on both sides
b + b = b ; 2b = b     Substitute a = b (step 1) and simplify
2 = 1

If you look at it that way (using an equasition) you could make pretty much anything equal anything if I am looking at it correctly. If that is true, this arguement is void.

I've seen that before, and I found out there was something screwy with it, but I can't remember now...

Edit: ahah, remember now.
(a-b)(a+b)=b (a-b)

since a = b, then a-b = 0

and one of the major rules of math is that you can't divide by zero, which is what you'd be doing by 'canceling out' a-b from both sides.

This is a fallacy.

regarding the train plane thing, its kind of like if you walk with a train, technicly your walking at... maybe 3mph faster than the train if its going like 30mph.. so your walking at 33mph, but then how fast would you be walking if you went the other way?

(maybe this makes no sence, im so tired to figure it out.)

Hypothetically if we had a megatrain that was, say, infinitely long and suitably high and wide, and we had an airplane take off through it in the opposite direction that it was traveling in, yes, the airplane WOULD lift off the floor of the train due to the fact that inertia is carrying the air inside of the train in the same direction that the train was moving in. If the train was moving at >~200-300 mph, then, yes, you can actually have an airplane that is flying 'forward' with positive speed yet has a negative velocity (not talking about aircraft cruising speed, which varies greatly).

Right, a train creates its own new frame of reference, which is a principle Einstein sort of widely established. To an observer outside of the train, looking through the windows, the plane would appear to not be moving, but to the plane inside the infinite train, everything acts as normal.
