Did anybody get the orange box? Omg Team Fortress 2 looks so cool. Also portal seems awesome. Half Life 2 is okay i guess? What you think about the Orange Box?

I just love the new look of Team fortress 2 just so cartoonish. The characters and everything look cool. Especially the spy. I'm gonna' draw the spy right now, he's so cool.

Is Team Fortress 2 as fun as it sounds?
What do I need Half Life 2 for??? Isn't that one of those play once and toss out games?

It's the complete opposite. With the ridiculous amount of mods and custom maps out for it, you'll be enjoying yourself for quite a while.. I've been playing it for about 2 years now.

As for myself, I just beat Portal yesterday and I'm around the beginning of EP2. I was really impressed with Portal; it has a really unique atmosphere and the story is kind of captivating, albeit simple. Plus the gun turrets are just so damn cute- I knocked one over and it said "I don't hate you."

EP2 is pretty awesome so far as well, the blood effects are vastly improved... but I can't comment much on the graphics otherwise, as my X1300 doesn't seem to do the job on high settings anymore.

Thats odd. I always though Steam was a game engine not a game community.

That's a common misconception. The name of the game engine that runs Half-life 2 and the like is actually Source.

I have mine pre-ordered (retail)....too bad we here in europe get it a bit later, but its good so i quess i can handle the few more days of waiting. I have been half-life fan since the first game, i have all of them...HL1, blue shift, opposing force...AND decay for playstation 2

.

I would have bought HL2 much earlier but my old compu sucked so i had to wait untill now (actually im glad i had to wait, OB is awsm deal).

portal just looks so awsome, escpecially the team fortress game i wanna buy it. by the way, I found a game thats all just like portal, except its 3d, and its only 5mb, its a good game to see what the real portal will look like.

Portal: Beat campaign in 3 hours. Gonna do bonus maps as soon as I get some work done.

And maybe maps with commentary.

Pre-ordered it a long time ago in order to play TF2 beta. Package is well worth it, and highly recommended.

As for buying individually, yes you can, but the cost adds up to more than the cost of the Orange Box.

Steam isn't a company, it's a product. More specifically, a distribution system for games, run by Valve, initially designed for their own titles but since expanded to include literally hundreds of games, of which every sale gives them a cut.

Valve has a rediculous amount of money from that alone, without considering the success of Half-Life, Counter-Strike, etc.

Also, Valve has previous titles on other platforms as well; Half-Life was released on PS2, Counter-Strike was released on XBox, Half-Life 2 was released on XBox.

It's on 360. PS3 version I think will be released next month.

I doubt anybody will be playing TF2 on the 360 anyways, since everyone is gay for Halo 3. So it's kind of a waste...Although the three Half-life games and Portal offer a much better singleplayer experience then Halo 3.
