Special Uniforms for Members
« on: July 12, 2006, 06:51:17 pm »
Hey.

I think a good way to attract registration and make the game look nice is to make clothes and uniforms special for the members.

Like, maybe a tuxedo. I cant really make one because I cant put the white undershirt for the tuxedo. Or maybe a camoflauge suit. Would seriously encourge registration and make the non-registered jealious.

One other idea I would love is if I can preview my person on what he looks like so I dont have to join a game, look at it, then leave to change it.

Im not registered.

I suppose so. Kinda pointless, but not as pointless as, say, colored jets?

Don't see why not.

I voted yes because I am registered.
And why not? There's only 3 or 4 things you get when you register, I think.
-Interfaces
-Jet colors
-MP3's
-Outfits?
The only problem would be how easy it is to get around having this feature without registering. Someone is bound to post the gostek images somewhere.
Maybe...
Maybe people who registered could have pretty alpha maps on their gosteks to make them glow?
That is an awesome idea. Somebody needs to tell me how to make bitmap alpha maps. Like right now.
WE NEED GLOWING GOSTEKS. NOW, DAMMIT.
Registered people need to be able to explode whenever they want, too. Kamikazi! Woot!
OK, maybe not. But I still voted yes.

Yea, I made my pants, skin, hair and shirt different colours (but fairly similar to each other) that are the average colour of the foliage. Although now that I use the minimi, I have it more for style instead of practicality.

.. Actually, if only you have the modified skin, doesent that mean that only you see your Soldat camoflauged? Thats how it works in most games.

But, i too have green shirt and pants for camoflauge. Sadly, in team your shirt is always red or blue, but it usually doesent affect it much. It must work pretty well though, most people dont notice me unless im firing and miss the 2nd time. Works even better now that i use the Ruger.

Michal Marcinkowski has mentioned many times in the past that the coding of soldat makes it extremely hard to edit anything to do with gostek - this is why he has never implemented bunny ears. I severly doubt this will happen.

its a cool idea, there is already something about viewing your gostek as you create, it was something made by the same person as polyworks. the special suits would be cool, i am registered, but colored flames isnt really that exciting. i would really like to see this idea, Putting in a tux would be good enough for me.

Apart from what Stalky said, I don't know why there is so much stigma against adding new stuff. I'm not talking about vehicles because they just won't fit in with a game like Soldat, but more gosteks for registered players won't hurt.

I support this idea, and especially support the preview looks so you don't have to join a game to see.

I don't quite agree with a tuxiedo, isn't that just too james bondish. It would be an obvious ripoff.

But how about you can like go shirtless so you can look like a samuria with a blackbelt and robes, etc...

I don't know if this would fall under the problems Michal has with the coding of Gosteks, or if he would just be able to code them in as bonuses. Both ways, I'm for it.

I hate to say this, but I feel as if Michal has pushed aside Gostek's for too long, and should get around to them sometime.

i say maybe because, as i look through the mods section, i favour the regular gostek over all, and i dont think anything would change my mind. BUT i guess you would be able to change between the two at  will.

As I said on page 1, I used the Soldat Skin Colour Changer to make everything the average colour of the bushes, so it realy does work as camouflage. I still wear the camo suit even though I have stopped camping ages ago as I use the Minimi.

Maybe I could make a gostak to make myself look like how I look in my comics, with the suit being loosely based on a German sniper coat.

Not cameoflauge. It would give you an advantage over non-registered users game-play wise. This isn't an RPG. I already HATE the fact that you can turn your head invisisble. But I would like to atleast choose from a few different outfits, rather than making your own (make your own could lead to... bad results). And some more actions for registered players, like a little dance or what not for a taunt.

I reckon it'd be good for the gosteks to be seen on the net. BEFORE you flame for already being suggested, read this:
1) There would be only set, unchangable gostecks. This would eliminate 'invisible' or 'obscene' gostecks.
2) Only reg. users can use them

I'm all in favor of extra features for registered users.  Perhaps their could be more game types, or even a story mode ;).
