Map/kick voting system
« on: October 28, 2007, 02:53:02 pm »
So.. Im having some questions regarding mapvotes and kick votes.

- Do players that join the game after the vote has started see the vote?
- Do players that join the game after the vote has started get counted in the playercount which is used to calculate wether a vote has passed or not?
- Do players that were in the server during the vote but left before the end of the vote, that have or have not voted, get counted in the playercount?
- Why is it that when theres 2 players on a server the vote always passes if only 1 presses f12?
- How does it round? 3 players in the server with vote% 70, 2 press f12..?
- What happens if someone starts a vote during another vote (possible forced by a script)?
- Is the kick vote% the same as the mapvote%?
- Why can admins be succesfully kickvoted?
well.. thats all for now.

no

yes

no

It depends on the vote % and the reason behind the vote

It rounds normally, 2/3 = 66%, vote fails

- What happens if someone starts a vote during another vote (possible forced by a script)?
votes are reset, voting starts over (uness the person trying to start the new vote has a kickvote against them)

- Is the kick vote% the same as the mapvote%?
I believe so

- Why can admins be succesfully kickvoted?
because there currently isn't a check for admins

How does it depend on the reason?
mapvotes dont have a reason.. Ive tested the mapvotes in a server with 60%, i pressed f11 and 1 other guy pressed f12, and the map got on. we thought the actual start of the vote might be considered a vote too, so we changed vote% to 70 and still the map got on when only 1 of us pressed f12..

I meant, if the server starts a vote on a cheating player, the server skews the vote in favor of kicking the person.

Ok, but how can it be that a map gets on when only 1 of 2 people pressed f12 with vote% 70?

edit: sometimes when you start a vote you see the vote box popup again, does it count your vote twice?
edit2: 1 more thing, voting F11 or not voting at all is the same, right?

It has happened to me many times as well. I guess your vote will get authorized and go through.
Two day ban Permabanned.

Starting a vote and actually casting a vote are the same action. If you cast a vote in a new server, what will happen is you will end up starting a new vote for everyone else.

Yes, voting no is the same as not voting, nothing gets sent to the server.

Wow, you mean if laos gets voted in server x, i got to server y before i have voted and press f12 there, the people in y will see a new vote for laos? sounds like a cheap way to overcome 2min wait time ^_^

does this also mean when you start a vote yourself and then press f12, it counts as 2 votes?

No, each player only gets 1 vote.

As for the 2 minute wait, not sure.
