Invalid variant type conversion
« on: November 13, 2007, 03:48:26 pm »
I just started my private server. I logged in as an admin, and everything went well.
but when I tried to add a bot, it does nothing. Also, the /say command doesnt work. When I tried the same commands in Soldatadmin, it gives this error: "Invalid variant type conversion"
If anyone knows what the problem is, plz answer....
Screenshot shows the error message.

Note: This is not a dedicated server.

Where did you download it? Or did you install any scripts in the server also? That seems like a buggy script to me.

If you didn't install any scripts, try a different admin client and see if the same thing happens.  I agree with PerroAZUL that it sounds like a script-related thing.

I downloaded Soldatadmin from soldat.pl . I´ll try another admin, like u said. But I think it´s the script too.
I installed the killing sprees script on my server, and i do got a few problems with that. For more info about these problems, view > http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=9825.msg257334#msg257334

I don't know what's wrong...

Maybe i'm just a noob

EDIT: Tried ARSSE now too, and it gives even more errors :P
view screenshot for more details.

Be more specific. Which one did you install? There are several versions in that thread, some of which are meant for older versions of the soldat server.

Its not scripting related, script errors are prefixed with [ * ] <scriptname> -> <error>

Okay.

Might seem trivial but have you tried installing the soldat server from scratch in another dir (without scripts)? See if that works or throws the same error.

I tried to install it in an other directory (without scripts) and it runs good... So I think the problem is in the script, or maybe it is in my soldat.ini... Maybe i screwed some things up when I configured it manually...
I'll take a look to find anything unusual.
Anyone knows what the specific problem is???

We need more information. Try this version of the killing spree script. I've cleaned it up a bit and tested it. You can choose which one you like (one is meant for team based modes).

Try it to be able to rule out the fact that scripts in general are the cause (even though I doubt it since EnEsCe just said the errors are formatted in a different way). If the problems are not resolved by this then post your soldat.ini and server.ini.

sai'ke, thx for the script. It works now, I installed a clean version without script or soldat.ini edits and ran your script on it. Everything worked fine ;D. Really thank you for helping me out! I think the bug was in the script because i couldn't find anything weird in my soldat.ini . It didn't show a script-bug though... oh well.
Maybe you should post your version of the spree-script in that topic. For other people that have problems with this script.

Did you install the dedicated server in the same folder as your Soldat client or anything weird like that?
