A lot of people are making that choice and quickly regretting it.

Sorry but thats what you get for not thinking it through. XD

There are no plans for a Mac port. Though if you are running an Intel Mac there is a chance you could get Soldat running using Wine. If you're on a PowerPC architecture you would have to emulate an x86 enviroment first or use the Darwin program instead. But to my knowledge Soldat has to date only been able to run on certain linux distros.

If you want to know more about them --> wiki/google

You pretty much just dug your own grave by switching to a mac.

For Soldat.   Shouldn't Soldat work in one of those emulators for Mac (Parallels or something) ?

"Hello, I'm a Mac. I don't play Soldat, but I do have some great media design software which you can get for the PC anyway and a mouse that looks really cool but it has no right-click; but that doesn't matter as you know it's the looks and brand label that count, not it's practicality. Afterall, who wants to look like a nerdy PC user?"

I hate how macs are like "pc's suck and they have viruses".  Mac's don't have any viruses because there's no reason to have them there. PC >>> Mac.  It's the truth.

If your into office stuff, and don't play games AT ALL, then a Mac is for you.

Other then that, how he put it, "you dug your own grave".  I'd burn/sell the mac, personally.  Teaches you for going with the wrong media ;]

Soldat won't be coded to work on a Mac.  Too much work and MM personally doesn't like Macs.  You can still play it using an emulator.  Try using Google to find one.

Your better off using your Mac as a blender, then to use it for computing.

Seriously, get a computer with windows or at least linux.

Whats with all this mac flaming? It ain't Apples fault that Soldat was made with DirectX and Windows in mind.

Use Bootcamp to install Windows on your Mac. You have to have another copy of Windows available though. This way you can restart your Mac but it will boot Windows instead. It ought to work. I got a Mac recently too but I'm yet to try this.
Oh and you'll have to use another mouse unless you don't want to use the right-click.

Indeed, even though Mac's have some features better than Windows.

Dug your own grave?

Nay!

The Mac has excellent creative capabilities right out of the box, but sadly, its compatibility with most things is more than a tad lacking. Apple does offer ways to use Windows on their new X86 based systems, and those seem the best.

I myself prefer it over Windows, but for my creative work, not for gaming and such.

Your only hopes here are in Parallels Desktop, Vmware Fusion, Boot Camp, or Virtual PC if you have a PowerPC. Of course, there could be freeware that I don't know about...

Oh well.

Soldat shall not be ported, sadly.
Don't say that you're Magic. Because you aren't, and I am.

What creative work do you do on the Mac that you can't do on a PC? For movie editing, there is Avid and Adobe Premire, both very good programs avalible for the PC.

But VERY expensive. Premiere Pro alone is $700.

The Mac has iLife '08 right out of the box, which is more than any PC can do. iMovie is fine for light editing, and Final Cut Express is merely $200.

GarageBand is good for music producing, iPhoto is really good for organizing photos.

Macs also run far better than PC's do (faster, that is), and are rivaled in stability only by Linux.

It would be nice to stop this Mac vs. PC debate now....

I'll just say that I'm partial to both. A cross-breed, if you will.

Haha the macs in the lab on campus crash all the time. The best part is when all the sudden the fans pick up and keep getting faster very slowly. They end up extremely noisy and they wont stop.
