Should soldat have flashbangs as a bonus crate, if you throw a flashbang, you have about 3 seconds to take cover or get blinded, the further you are from the flashbang, the less effect it has on you

OR, also smoke grenades.

after throwing, you have 2 seconds before they *crack open* and slowly release puffs that will cover the soldier and make you almost invisible to the opponent because you will be covered by smoke.

Smoke grenades wouldn't work because of Soldat being so linear and 2d, you'd be able to see people other side of the smoke, and it wouldn't be hard to shoot the people hiding inside it.

Flashbangs are also a no-no, because they're annoying enough in CS and I think Soldat players would just annoy the crap out of everyone with them.

Smoke grenade would be a bad addition to the game, however flashbang would be pretty cool, it would make a nice blurr effect.

Soldat in no way is going to ever be close to cs. so stop comparing them!!

i reckon both, becuase they would come in very handy in certain situations but with the flashies only have 1? and only 2 for the smokes... and only make the flashbang  have a small radius of blindness, not even whole screen, porbably half or less, and smoke grenades could have a cloud that takes up about umm bout an 8th of the screen so it would cover a fair area....

but these are just my opinions

true with the smoke grenades. Unfortunately, i used to play CS2D. they had hackers who had unlimited smokes, and it always crashed the server lol...

i'd like to use smoke/flash nades. maybe you could choose which gnade you would like to use from the weapons menu. :P i support the idea.

Using EnEsCe's flashbang plugin, and some batch files, I made a mod that effectively used the flashbangs. In said mod, the max number of grenades (now flashbangs) was one, and they did very little damage and could be thrown farther than average grenades (yes, I did change the strings so that "grenade" became "flashbang"). I had a 1on1 lan with my friend, and it was a blast.

I think smoke grenades could be interesting as a means to obscure the vision for one hit weapons. With all the complaints that those weapons receive, I'm surprised more aren't behind this idea. Being able to obscure your position from an enemy is always a good thing.

You may say they're too CS, but CS was one of the main inspirations for MM. Also, have you noticed that  a lot of the guns' sounds are from CS? Hmmmm? Saying it's too CS supports the cause!

Flash bang could bling like when you lose your hearing with a reg nade, and smoke could obscure vision like polies do in a realistic game... I like the idea... but now that I think about it, know how many smokes and strobes would be going off!?!?!?

I think it would be a good addition. Mainly for realistic though.

Smoke grenades aren't usually used for cover, but for signalling, distractions, and to confuse the hell out of someone.

For instance, you can kind of control where someone goes with smoke grenades. Just plop one over a path you don't want the enemy to take and wait with teamates in the other path and they'll go to you instead of to the smoke. People usually don't run through massive clouds of smoke because you don't know if someone could be lurking in there with a chainsaw or whatever.

Flashbangs are ok, but not as good as smoke grenades. I personally wouldn't use them that much. They can be really usefull in realistic mode though, since enemies can't see you lob one over a corner. Then you can just run in and shoot 'em up while they can't see.

That is exactly what we dont want. We want a game that isnt just a copy of some other game. otherwise we would just all go buy a game with the same shit in it and better graphics.

yeah, flashbangs would be abused, like teamflashing n such. smokes could work in realistic, i guess, like if it acts like a couple of polygons with "no collide" that sorta follow the smoke, but you cant see past them (as if there was a wall there or something)

Of course it's never going to be close.  Soldat is much better than Counterstrike (I own both of them).  I don't think the action is as intense in CS, and when it is, it's the wrong kind of intensity ("wow this is intense" *dies*).
