"Mag" works as a good abbreviation of magazine; much better than "clip."

We've already established Michal Marcinkowski wasn't the best at spelling weapon company names when he started working on Soldat. I think it's safe to say we've established he wasn't the best at weapon terminology back then, either.
In any case, it's annoying and makes you look like an idiot; as does every other misuse of grammar, spelling and punctuation. It matters to some people, others don't give a rat's ass.

Like xtishereb said, just use 'mag' if you want to say it quicker. And 'clip' is not a shorter way of saying magazine as they are two different things. It's like saying that 'car' is just the shorter, quicker and easier way of saying 'motorbike'.

Personally I don't like too when somebody makes crazy things with weapon names, parts etc. but it's not that I would shout at everyone who makes such a mistake that is really easy to make by someone who knows nuttin' about real weapons etc. I always try to explain this mistake.
