I usually don't like maps that use a lot of scenery because they lag, but this map has the exception.  This really is the work of an artist.

This map is incredbile. It is a nice idea to use a position saving script on this map, just too lose alot of frustration, but that might spoil it ;) I am about to use it. I did not play on the First Ctf_Explore, but this looks fun.
Wow.. using save script on a map where you can not die..
Smart.
Some climbing sections were slightly harder than they are now but I ended up making them a bit easier so there wasn't too much emphasis on the climbing in the map while still giving a reason to play it again.

That's a great time Blue-ninja... I think I'll try and beat it.

Don't really bother about skill level, because online everyone can get atleast to the volcano(First really frustrating part).
Other than that, the windmill is kinda hard, but still possible even without backflips.

For the times.. that is a prove you can beat it under 5min.(Even under 4min I think)

Umm... You cant die, but there are invisible parts of the map that you can fall through that bring to the beggining, so it's good save every time you finish an obstacle (so you don't have to start over at every mistake). You should play the map before you say that ::)

I allready played it, done in 4:27.
Theres only one obstacle which may make you fall down to start(I found only one) and it doesn't change the fact save is lame and it isn't needed at all for this map.
Other obstacles which get you back - so what?
Deal with it.
If you cry and leave only because you felt a little bit back once on an easy map while you know the way, proves only your weakness.

Great map and all, but I'm just a bit disappointed compared to the first version. The variety of locales isn't as great as the original, and the vast majority of the puzzles are just hidden polygons pathways (where the original had the chutes, tower jumping, and other challenges). I think the very first jumping puzzle here is your best -- I love how it gives the appearance of multiple routes with the solution not being as obvious as it may appear. The beach and windmill look terrific, and they really stand out against the constant cavernous environments. Still think it's a shame to see so much effort go into a map which won't see frequent play. Maybe some climb servers will run it, though they'll complain it's too easy. :P

As expected, Mr. Domino is the only person in this thread who can give a very constructive review of ctf_Explore2.

While I can't disagree with the reply, I certainly can't agree with it just yet. Because, still big up to the effort put in this map, along with the plane, which isn't separated in two parts.

Thanks for the feedback Mr. Domino. This map was never really designed for servers (the same goes for ctf_Explore). It is mainly designed for solving on your own because you have an unfair advantage once you know what the solutions to all the puzzles are.

I agree, there isn't a huge amount of variation in the puzzles. It was difficult coming up with an entirely new selection of them. The main reason for the large number of invisible polygon puzzles is that I was hoping to make this map less obvious to where you need to go next.

You've given me an incentive to begin ctf_Explore3 now.  :)

Next year? I'm no great map maker, but I think a map like the previous Ctf_explores would take longer than a year... I'm not sure though... Stay Enthusiastic :)

Well, I only ever worked on ctf_Explore2 on about 4 or 5 days this year. It took a year because I didn't have a heap time when I could work on it and when I did have time I didn't feel like it.

Well, I only ever worked on ctf_Explore2 on about 4 or 5 days this year. It took a year because I didn't have a heap time when I could work on it and when I did have time I didn't feel like it.

I'm with you on that one. I frequently do the same. Sometimes, it is for other reasons as well that I procrastinate. Often times, I feel I don't have the skill to make it into the map I want it to be, and other times, I don't have the resources (scenery, textures) to make it look the way I desire it to look.

Often times, I just don't want to work on it at all, such as yourself. There are often other things that I could be doing instead.

I think that this turned out nice. I didn't have a problem with the fact that it had a lot of intangible polygon passages. I found that to be more mind rapping. I must say though, I guess the thing I liked most about ctf_Explore: it had many more visible puzzles and passages as Domino pointed out that I had forgotten.

I really liked ctf_Explore. That looked like parts of it inspired off of the game, Myst. That game is wicked... off topic: I know of a friend who would take notes as he tried to play that game. He must've had at least 10 pages filled up, but he never did solve its tormenting puzzle.

Edit:

I just replayed ctf_Explore... I officially liked ctf_Explore2 better. It seems to be a little more natural.

Ctf_Explore2 made me think the exact same thing. It is really quite a tricky map.

Awesome, took me quite alot of time to beat, but still it was a good experience.

The biggest part I love about these maps is that there is no deadly polygons in it. Its all about how skillful you are on each jump.

I will sure play Explore3 when that pops out. Great work!

Agreed. Death Polys=Spoilers  >:(

And I found many bugs in this map, like how to get through the bounce polys with two nades, and how to get to the airplane part, with 2 nades (get there from the bounce polys).
