I need a FPS with a good single player mode.
« on: November 28, 2007, 12:26:47 am »
I'm basically out of FPS games that have an excellent single player campain'ish mode. I currently have Halo, Halo2, Goldeneye, RTCW, Wolf3D, and a few others. I don't really care if the game has a multiplayer feature,  but I wouldn't mind if it did.

I want more games similar to this that are fun as hell to play, I have these systems available:

 - PC running XP Pro / Ubuntu: geforce 6600 w/ 256 ram, athlon 64+ x2 ~2ghz, 2 gigs ram
 - Xbox (originial)
 - N64
 - SNES
 - NES
 - Nintendo DS
 - GBA SP

thanks for any game suggestions
There are other worlds than these

Cod, Hitman... not FPS but if you into killing people its fun(Just got the trilogy for $30), to my knowledge there have been a crapload recently release... just go to your local game store and browse around with a pen and paper, write down the names of stuff that gets your eye, then dl some demos. Btw I got a demo of CoD4.... its freaking great... if you can get it you need to.

Edit:
I bought a game called Call of Cthulhu a while ago but never got that far into it.. other games got in the way. Its like a point and clicker mixed with a shooter... I think. I got a part where you actually get to kill someone then got distracted... been meaning to get back into it. Try to get a demo... it was really interesting.

If you are someone who judges games by gameplay and not graphics, you need to try Doom II from id Software.  It is an amazing game.  Multi-player is also available but you'll need to down this third-party software called ZDaemon in order for it to work.  The game needs a dial-up modem for multi-player and since no one ever uses that anymore, it is obsolete.  This is the reason why the software is required.  Singleplayer is still fun though.

Quake III Arena is also a great game.  Pretty nice graphics, gameplay is fast-paced and has plenty of blood.  The only thing that I don't like about this game is that it tends to get boring after several weeks because of the boring story-line.  It is creative and well thought out, but not very gameplay satisfying.

Also, I've never been able to play this game because of the high need of system requirements, but this game is great, called Meteor 2.  Top-down multi-player compatible shooter.  I've played the original and it was amazing.  This I heard was even better.  Good storyline and good campaign single-player.

Or you can try the original.

I'll also be getting Doom 3 for Christmass.  Once I get it, I can you if it was good or not.  From reviews and criticism, it was great.

All of the Call of Duty's have excellent campaigns. Might also like Farcry.

Already mentioned, but quake 2. Seriously. This game revolutionized the genre just as much as it's predecessors and successors.

That is for the wii. Wai 2 go jenius.

I would say the orange box will keep you busy for a while, it is technically 5 games in one.

Quake 3's story-line is pretty much non-existant. I still played offline a lot.

CoD 4.

Slightly overclock your 6600 with Atitool/coolbits and you are ready to go with worst possible GFX. (Works without OC aswell, but the FPS might get you upset at intense situations).
