Driver problem.
« on: November 29, 2007, 09:03:58 pm »
I'm on my old computer, which has a Geforce FX 5700. I installed battlefield 2 on it, since 5700 is the minimum requirement. I needed to update my driver, but I got this. It happens to all the drivers I install.

are you sure you have the right drivers? since that is the error message.

also playing BF2 with the minimum card is an awful experience. just some forewarning.

Yea I know, I don't have many games so. I put it on low setting and stuff.

I do have the right driver for my card. What can be the problem?

If that happens with all drivers you try to install, its a windows problem. Reformatting with most likely kill this problem.

Eww, reformat is the last resort.

What would be easy is just check what drivers you have. You might just uninstall the old ones then install the up to date ones.

I can do that? I thought unistalling the old ones would mess up my computer.

I'll give it a try.

no, windows uses the "oh shi..." drivers until you get the real ones installed.

What driver version are you trying to install? It looks like 78.01, use the latest, 163.75. http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_163.75.html

If you still have further issues, get as much information about the card as you can.

It didn't work. Forceware did the same error. Theres no much to say about the card.

Its not a Geforce 5700 ultra.. its just a 5700.
Its running DirectX 9.0.

I don't understand why its saying, that its a hardware/software problem.

About the only thing I can suggest is to keep working your way backwards until you find a driver that does work.
