Minimap improvment.

Make it work like realistic, being able to see your enemy as long as they're not hiding behind polys. Maybe put a limit to the range of the detection, cause TBH IMO, the minimap's kinda useless unless there's teamwork or climbing.

and there should be the possibility to complete remove the minimap on a server. i know its been discussed before and we ended up with a 'blank' minimap. but this still ruins the fun in maps like explore or other puzzle maps, and labyrinth-like maps.

.. learn to read, or learn to think. 'disabling' the minimap only removes the players and flags.

Well, the current minimap looks bad. Doesn't really affect me because I don't use it, but I might if it wasn't that confusing. Maybe I'm just stupid, maybe not.

Ok, I'm refreshing this topic(I know what I am doing. ;p). I would like to see minimap improved. What we already can do with it? Change it position? And something with its transparency which really doesn't work.
So my point is:
Add resizing, better transparency.
(If mentioned above are possible to do now, sorry for my ignorance.)

Yeah...minimap is kinda useless. Only good for checking out large maps.

The mini map would only give some people the ability to raid others without exploring the base before...

I agree, it's useless. It can be used to see where FFC is, but I would never use minimap to that, I think.. I havn't tried, but it seams like a distraction wen I have to focus on enemies.  The minimap doesn't show enemies does it? not even efc?

Maybe make enemies appear if they shoot like COD4? That works well. Don't make it too "improved" as we free users will be disadvantaged too much.

no need to know where the enemies are, just look when some buddy dies. that means there's some enemy close that killed him.

The problem with your idea is that you would see an enemy who's hiding behind a piece of scenery.

I don't get your problems.... the minimap is basically something like an enhanced Player Indicator (you know, the names of your teammates on the borders of your screen), showing also the map which is quite useful in my opinion.

Why? Well, first of all because some climbing maps are just a pain in the a** because of huge jumps you don't know of when you don't know the map and to get an idea how big the map is. Moreover it helps players who are new to a map and are totally helpless against players who have been playing that map for months.

Yes, I use the minimap and I think it's a great improvement. If you want to avoid that players can see where the enemy is by looking where mates have died you gotta change the player indicator too.

No, it's good as it is and I don't know about you but I like the fact that you can simply use it to remember your tactical\strategic advantage spots when the map's too big or something.
If you don't want it simply turn it off....(F2 much?)

Hmm, you probably missed my point. I didn't want to change anything that it shows. Knowing teammates positions is all I need (especially when playing RS). All I ask for is some resizing and better transparency.

I support the idea, when you can configure the settings as a serverowner like:

-show map
-show friendly players
-show enemy players (-on sight-)
[-show kits]
-show flagpositions
-show friendly flagrunner

Options like that since Hide and Seek would be DEAD if you could see your foes on sight (when they are hidden seeker gets them then), but that is only HnS and not the whole Soldat :)
