Tracers
« on: December 05, 2007, 08:19:02 pm »
What I'm saying is that every 3~4 rounds, a tracer is fired along with the regular bullet.
The tracer itself does no damage and explodes like a M2 bullet when reached its max distance. It would fly straight also. I have posted an example below explaining this.

The point is since soldat's bullets move REALLY slow, Sometimes people can't pinpoint the source of the attacker that is shooting at them. E.G. Bullets arch in soldat, some people dont like that arching factor. When a tracer is fired, AKA IN REAL LIFE. It goes straight  for a long period of time, before burning out. When the tracer flies straight, people can trace it With their head(yes I use it ingame.)
Back to the source.
Also thx for posting your first comment.

Man that would make everything way more chaotic than it should be. People would be trying to dodge the M2s only to realize it was a harmless tracer.

It would look different from a M2 bullet, I was just saying it has the properties of the M2 bullet- the damage and graphics.

I don't think this is really necessary, tracers are only handy in real life due to bullets being hard to see. Their purpose is so soldiers can see where their bullets are going. In Soldat, pretty much every bullet is a tracer since they are so visible.

You'd be better off suggesting to remove all scenery or anything that you hide behind. It all depends on experience, of course new comers are gonna have a harder time to find where they are being shot from, eventually they'll learn the maps and all the hiding places.

Like NSC said, bullets in soldat are tracers, you couldn't see bullets in real life nor do they fly further than regular bullets, and they have "normal" damage. So weird to say damage for real life...

not realy worth while.
a tracer round is fired in real life to tag an enemy position.
in this your saying you want all guns to randomly fire out a tracer that gives away your own position.
Your signature is too big, please read the rules. Keep it under 4 lines of text.

I suppose it would look more realistic, although some people would be against it because people can find you easily. Although it would look cool.
Lol, internets.

Not really necessary. I can only see this as a waste of ammo. Plus, this's what we have the sniper line for.
To sum up my point: We had a multipage debate about toilet padding. (Putting TP in the water so you don't get splashed.)
And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.

You could just do what I do which is extending the bullet image and giving it a red/yellow trail. Then all your bullets are tracers! But this 'tracer' tactic isn't as usefull as it used to be, as the default bullets became much easier to see since around version 1.4.

i can see it sucking. People will not like it because they waste ammo, like with a socom.... It only fires 12 shots anyway if two or three are tracers then you've only got 10 or 9 effective bullets left.
Lol, internets.

XD I sort of forgot about the HUGE noticeable bullets in soldat, sorry for making a stupid suggestion XD.
