Christmas gifts - What to give?
« on: December 07, 2007, 06:23:09 pm »
I do not know about you guys but I'm having hard time finding good gifts. But this isn't  topic what I should get. It's for you to post in so others might find intresting gifts.

So post stuff that you think are good gifts, what price and add what age range it's for.

Money.

Zero thought, Zero problems, Zero batteries. Best gift ever.

If you want to show you actually care, then you get something that the person can use, or that you know they like.

All I've figured out so far is a toothpick holder for my sister @ 27 years, and neodymium refrigerator magnets for my parents. Both below 10 euros.

Wow... all I want for christmas is my toothpick holder...

Try getting them something you know they'll like. If not, ask them what they want. If you don't want to do that, throw some money at them.

This is $9, good for guys that like to annoy people or (like my dad) think stuff like this is "a hoot."

If you know people that are into board games get them this
$15-$20

This or this seem kind of dumb to me but I think a few people might like them. I may buy my bro and his wife a gift certificate to the star site so they can name a star after their baby. Come to think of it... $50 isn't a good last resort gift...

Nice. I might need to get myself a laptop cooler... but I don't know how much 39 Euros is in US currency... And do you mean 1.5 years old?

For kids, the new Bionicle toys. They're cheap for Legos ($10 for the large ones, $6 for their "companions") so you can get a set of one color and look like a champ for spending < $17.

If you're wantin' to get a more intimate gift, making a mix CD is a good option.

Do NOT get bionicle. The only true lego left (that I know of) is Technic. Bionicle is two pieces and whoop-de-doo you're done. Technic is not only adaptable, fun but also lets the kids get creative and train the creative side of the brain.
Technic laid my path for me.
Technic > circuits kit > mechanics > physics degree (next year anyway)

I strongly recommend Technic for your brother. I've had years upon years of fun for it....I should get paid for this advertising...

Err...for your dad...
Boardgames are always fun. I'll be getting Axis and Allies (revised edition) for my brother. He's 25 and it costs about £30
There are a tonne of other good boardgames, let me know if you want to mention all of them. If you want to look for yourslef there is www.boardgamegeek.com
Friend and I used to play Munchkin loads by www.sjgames.com However we've stopped now, although I'm trying to get it start again. You can manage a shorter game of it in a lunch break, but otherwise its about an hour and a half long game. With TONNES of good expansions.

No idea what you could get for your sisters as I've never had that problem. What do they like?

I myself and stuck as to what to get my other brother. He's into internet security and is taking a degree in internet engineering. Anyone know anything geeky/cool I could get him?

If your family is silly or at least humorous then get "Apples to apples" It's a matching game where you pair a noun to an adjective. Hilarity ensues

Em. I think it's ok to wish money when you're a teenager but after that it should be gifts IMO. Also i would never give my parents money as a gift. It just seems wrong becuase they have it already and do not need more.

Well I think I found a gift for my one of my sisters. A Rubik's Cube for about 12.9 euros.

Some people like to put thought into a gift. Money is the ultimate "I don't care enough about to you think" present. People that only give money are either stupid or lazy... most likely both.
