Chainsaw stealth
« on: December 17, 2007, 11:26:34 am »
One advantage that the chainsaw could have would be the ability to hide behind scenery and rush against unexpecting foes. Unfortunally the loud stand-by noise the chainsaw makes reveals any sort of surprise attack.

The saw could use more popularity and removing the noise would be one more reason to use it... Comments?

that sounds always hindered the use of the saw as a surprise weapon.  But would you ever use saw to kill people in RL?

Nevertheless, I give total support to find a solution. Maybe not removing the noise, but doing something about it to make silent attacks possible.

Just switch to other weapon, and when someone comes, switch fast and rape him.

The words "chainsaw" and "stealth" should never be used at the same time.
To sum up my point: We had a multipage debate about toilet padding. (Putting TP in the water so you don't get splashed.)
And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.

Agreed. That's like asking for the ruger to have a silencer.

I think you meant, "That's like asking for the 82 to have a silencer."

I think you meant the m79.

yeah, but since soldat isn't quite a realistic game... why couldn't we have a more silent chainsaw

And while we're at it, let's make the AK shoot knives and the knife shoot ak's... Really, the saw is fine.

I agree.  If you want stealth, use a knife, and stab them.  Like I do. :P

The knife is made for throwing, stabbing is like an emergency secondary attack and isn't as reliable as the chainsaw and doesn't have the same range. Plus the slow stab compared to the chainsaw.

I thinq it should have a "startup time" like the Minigun so you dont hear it then you click it starts up and it does damage and then if you let go it will only shut off after a sec. after

I support this. Currently, an M79 is much more effective for such camp-moves than a saw!

the "chugga chugga" is cool, its my favorite thing to do in a zombie server(revving up the saw).

Why not just make Predator Mode a little more stealthy by turning off a few weapon sounds including the saw?  That way, it'll function as something a little more than just an invisibility cloak, while allowing you to shred your opponents much like in the movie.

And of course that would make it easy to turn off if that's not your cup of tea.

Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake.  Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big old storm right in the eye and says, "Give me your best shot. I can take it."

in real life if you try to kill someone with a saw, you will have standby noise.  If you want to be stealthy, hold another weapon out and switch before the kill.  I don't support making the chainsaw stealthy

The chainsaw was often used by ancient ninjas when they wanted an extra silent kill. The stealth it provides you with is extraordinary.

Nah. If we were to beef up the saw, it should be done another way.

That's good enough for me. It works at least.

Pretty sure we ninjas just knife and stab.
