Count his shots? the fuck you mean, you dont know how big his clip is and probably wont even know what kind of gun he has, he could have an extended clip or extra mags or another gun, good luck trying to be a hero.

If the situation allows me to coinkidinkly have a gun at that time, im ducking and firing back until i made my way out the mall or he gets shot.

The only reason i'd play hero in this situation was if someone i cared about was in danger, otherwise move the fuck outta my way, im getting outta there.

I am assuming he is facing the other way. Go down strong or save somebody else.

Usually the most accessible pistols have a clip under 12 bullets, a random mall shooter isn't going to go through pains for a extended mag.

Like everything else, extended clips can be accessed illegally, no pain there and obviously if your going to shoot a mall up you could care less how you get the gun.

Even with 12 bullets or less, you still dont know how big the clip is, he could shoot 7 and just stop, you'd think he was done and you'd run up on him and then damn, homey your outta luck.

I'd use my Jiu-Jitsu skills (since I'm a Sensei/black belt) and I'd jump on him and strangle him until he passes out OR just simply break his neck
