Here is my first attempt at making a map on polyworks and a Tw, style map.

Although there is not many trenches(if you can call them that). i named it Tw because of its length.(most tw maps that i have played have been long.)

OK. here you go!

constructive criticism please! :)

Edit: i used mostly Wraithlikes scenery, and some of the RiR and then just generic scenery.
Edit2: added more trenches and bunkers

this map took me a total of about 4 hours. next map i make(if anyone thinks i should) i will take much more time on it. with shading and better bunkers.

More scenery, a few more bunkers, smoother terrain, an actual theme, not make it so flat, cause I absolutely hate flat tw maps, better use of scenery, wtf is with that Hot Sun? It's a freaking winter attack fool, better bunker structure, shading, and finnaly,
TRENCHES!

How do you use a sun for shading? The map's name is actually, WINTER ASSAULT. Were you planning for the sun to melt the snow on that big hill, cause an avalanche, force bravo out of their bunker and force them to camp in the snow?(JK.)

no, i use the sun for helping me keep a idea of were i was supposed to shade.

I'm no mapper but I can sense a playable map.

so is it playable?

It's okay, but it need the following things, In My Opinion:

- Trenches (You didn't put any)
- No multitexturing until you learn how to use it (This isn't bad, I'm surprised about how could you be able to do that texture work with a bunch of polygons)
- Different types of vegetation (I mean, use snow trees for snow-themed maps, if you want I can give you of any kind of help or sceneries/textures whenever you want)
- A much better bunker structure (If I come into one, I won't feel safe, because it doesn't seems strong) like tw_Anoxi bunkers (Just take the idea of its structure, don't copy them)
- Fix some polybugs and scenery placement (You didn't place the craters right, they should be much more near to the edge)
- More bunkers (It's Tw, it has bunkers and such)
- General gameplay improvement (I mean, you should do it plain)

I hope this can help you improving this map, if you are thinking on improve it, sure, you are free to do it or not, I'm just giving you some "constructive criticism".

If you want anything about mapmaking, tell me and I will give you advice.  ;)

P.S. lol, i got 5 replies in front of me... well, delete that sun, of it will change your map name to "tw_SummerAssault"...
And change the map title in Map Options menu...

I hope you get better and make something new...  :D

You will have to spend many days (Or even sometimes weeks) making a map...

Many weeks...hmm. If I spent that much time on a map, 80% of the many weeks would be spent not working on the map.

The little screenshots don't look too bad, but when it comes to the overview, it looks pretty horrible. When I hear that there is a TW map, I usually expect to see top-of-the-line quality work. VTT set the standards high. Now it's your goal to meet them.

Yeah, the..left bunker looks pretty awful. The polygons are too apparent. Your goal is to make the polygons disappear in a map.

That's all I hafta say for now. I think I'm going to make me a TW map now. I've recieved motivation from the inspiration satelite. Too bad the imagination satelite isn't shootin me right now.

You have the same problem as me, i did my first map in about 8-9 hours total, this second map im currently working on im spending as much time as needed to make it good, its coming along slowly but surely.

Like mentioned before, when i hear 'tw' i expect to see a greatly detailed map, add more background sceneries, give it that 'realism' that most tw maps accomplish.

Basically refer to the rest about what else needs to be done, as i wont repeat them. good luck ;)

Put about 5 trenchs along that right side, And 1 small bunker there somewhere. Smooth out the rough egdes, add a background. and I might be a good TW map.

I think it's unplayable as Avarax's Tw maps.(Which I hate.) No offense.

This is a horible TW map you got a snipe line right accross the whole map. Pluse other problems.

Add some Trenches on that hill or it's basicaly 1 sided, you won't make it up that hill, unless you are playing against retards.

Don't worry about how realistic it looks at first, If the game play is shit it dosn't matter how good it looks.
