Ctf_supershotv2[12/30/07]

Ok, i understand my first version of this map's visuals sucked and the theme didnt really match up, so i've attempted to upgrade it. I am not completely done with it as i need feedback before i release this version. Please, be blunt, i dont care how 'harsh' it is, you cant get good if everyone pussyfoots around what needs to be said.

If you want to compare this map to the older version, click ctf_supershot in my sig. I am also planning on changing the name of it for this version as i hate supershot, dont know why i named it that in the first place.

It still has the slippery polys where the water is, so you can still shoot yourself towards your opponent.

Updates:
-Darker map overall
-More scenery
-Added waterfalls
-Attempted to make the military base look more militaryish(feedback wanted here)
-Darkened the lights in the base
-Made the border poly's thicker
-Gave the polys a more smoother look
-Regenerating poly's in the military base
-Added a new route into/out of the alpha/bravo bases which allows easier access to the top route.
-Various other small fixer-uppers ;)

I actually doubt there is a point to the lowest route, since there will be 3 main passages then, keep it simple, too many floating islands leads to the "Maze" syndrome maps.

IMO this map is surely better than the one before it and it doesn't need such drastic redoing and fixing...just the top middle part could be modified a bit.
And one more thing, did u base it on ctf_Kampf?

No actually i was sitting in history class and had nothing to do and i wasnt tired, so i decided to draw something off the top of my head and this is what came out.

I'll probably add the anti spray part and maybe the part that combines the alpha/bravo parts with the top route, the middle part i like (where you enter the base from the top) but i may make the polys more rigged, same for the lower route (as that was a suggestion before but i forgot about it)

If you think about it, there are 3 routes, the only thing that fools somebody is there are many ways to change route, which i like (as a player).

...which i like (as a player).

That's good cuz IMO liking the map u made is 50% of success... the other 50% is the rest of the people liking it too :D

Nice progress, really nice, actually you are starting to be good :). Horve pointed out already everything I was saying, the map works a lot better with those changes, Im pretty sure about that. The look is btw now pretty annoying. You have an awesume waterfall but the rest of map don't look that good. But sure it looks better than one week ago.

Clarify for me? I know what you mean, something just doesn't feel right but im too much of a novice to understand what is giving that 'annoying feel'. Is it the layout? the shading? *chokes* help!

at the pointless place you could actually make a pit of death for no reason 8)
lime colour means make the map thicker
purple means use the same style as you did in the upper middle to colour the bottom
the red, its true...
make the waterfalls 25% more transparent so it  wont catch the eyes that much.
brown = col3.bmp or smth, probably supportive scenery so the islands won't look like they are floating like shit in a river 8-)

Heh, quit hating on my pointless area, i like it and its staying ;)

It does seem like if the map was thicker it would be less annoying...

And im not aiming for legendary, its my second map, im just aiming for it to be worth using in a server.

It was just about look. If you have some scenery (waterfall) which look awesome, then I expect that rest of map should look as good as the waterfall. But now I feel kind of disappointed cos rest of map is "only" laos like, which is good but not good as awesome.

That might solve the problem

Newest update, took me a while as i just got back from my christmas vacation.

I will once I release this version of the map, but to do that I want to be satisfied with it and i think this may be my final version unless someone finds something supremely wrong with it.

This update i had to reduce the borders once again, they looked gay as before, they look a bit better now, giving a more natural look. Also added colliders to the entrances of the military base, so grenades would explode at the doors instead of bouncing off.

I will also rename this version of the map to something else.

Very much nicer from v3. Much more natural. The reducing of waterfall apparentness also greatly improved the map. I'm not in a situation to post anymore stuff, but good work so far, and keep it up. Yes, the maps are improving greatly.
