Do you think we're gonna win (Americans mind you :P) or lose? Post your reason why you think it.

We kill way more insurgents then insurgents kill americans.

We could still win.

Personally i think it isn't about winning or loosing, it's about that nation becoming stable.
Otherwise i don't care, i just want Australia's prime minister to start a withdrawal of troops or set a date to do so.
Lol, internets.

As long as Americans back home will support the troops we can win it, some general from Vietnam I think resently released a book in which he claims America could/should have won the Vietnam war but the media and anti-war people caused early withdraws of troops which caused us to loose.

If we still have troops deployed in a few years I might be able to get over there.

really though i don't think iraq is a case of winning and losing, unless you count either annihilation of iraq or establishment of a democratic government as a win

America could have won any war - the question was whether if winning was worth the price/sacrifice or not. In the case of the Vietnam war, an overwhelmingly (loud) majority convinced the president no.

The concern of war objectives being too broad existed then and exists now. That was why the Vietnam War was a loss and also why the Iraq War will be another loss.

Vietnam was a complete waste of lives and was fought just because some idiot in office wants a government to remove its communist policies.  That form of government will have no effect on us or our daily lives.

As to the war in Iraq, we've pretty much have fullfilled our reasoning for being there and shouldn't linger there for much longer.

1. Communism was a huge threat to the American lifestyle. That was the whole reason of the cold war
2. No we haven't, so no we can't leave.

The Cold War started because of Russia's goverment difference and we didn't want them to become a larger world power than us.

One reason for us being there was to find weapons of mass destruction, we didn't find any.

This is a war where the other side is not surrendering. This isn't a country vs country., it's groups of armed fucked up people that are spread all over the world. But it is possible if they fight them but it will take many years.

That is one reason, another would be to stabilize the middle east, if we leave now it would collapse on itself.

The cold war was to stop the spread of communism. We won because we out economied the USSR

Iraq fights for Allah, American soldiers fight for money which they could also just get by being lazy and watching porn in their camps.

That's why Iraq will win.

Although that is true, it is almost impossible to stabalize that region.  There have been many problems like as of now that have happened in that area.  We're pretty much wasting time because its hopeless.

And also because Russian didn't want to cause a nuclear war and have another world war.
