Game Consoles you have
« on: December 26, 2007, 04:30:23 pm »
Lets take a time to talk about the game consoles you have. Remember the first you have? Ahh...the memories...

Here we go

Mega Drive
This was my first game console, my parents gave to me in 1995, for xmas i guess. It was really awesome back them. It came with the usual 3 games-in-one. Italia 90 rocked my house!
Last time i actually connect it to the TV was 2 years ago, but since i found what were emulators, never again.

Game Boy Pocket
I got my first game boy, pocket, back at 1997. It was the silver edition, and no one in my school had one like mine, so they liked my GB a lot. I got it for my birthday with the classic Warioland.

Dreamcast
Yes, dreamcast. To bad sega fecked up...cause dreamcast had pretty cool games and low prices. I got DC in my birthday in 2001. And the game included? Quake 3 Arena, brilliant!!! I was 10 years old and all that blood and gibs was simply to funny! Again what wasn't funny apart from sega fecking up, was the fact i only got a memory card like in 2002...

Game Boy Advance
Yay! I got it in Xmas 2002. Right now, i don't know where the hell it is, but well, i don't play since 2004.

PS2
I got my playstation2 only in 2004, so i was stuck with the Dreamcast for 4 years. And its the silver one, again. I got Euro 2004 game with it, also i bought it 2 days before the final of the euro, that i won on the game but we lost in real life, yay...

NES - Played it when I was 2 years old. Not competently, but that's what started me down the path of geek (and Mega Man fanboy). No regrets.

SNES - This seemed like the friggin' holy grail to me when I got it as a kid. To this day, thoughts of Super Mario World, Zelda: aLttP, and... lots of others evoke some powerful nostalgia pangs.

N64 - This was a true golden era of gaming. Developers had a whole new generation of amazing gaming technology to use -- and they still knew what a good game was. Super Mario 64? Still fun. Star Fox 64? Legend.

Gamecube - You can tell I'm one of those Nintendo types, yes? It's disappointing that this poor little old thing did so poorly in that iteration of the console wars, thanks just to its underdeveloped library, imo. I don't even know how many hours I logged on Super Smash Bros. Melee. It was a lot. In fact, I find that most of the really noteworthy titles I enjoyed on the 'cube were the Nintendo ones... F-Zero GX, Metroid Prime, Mario Kart Double Dash... Oh, and Twilight Princess. The Wii version... Just doesn't seem right to me.

Game Boy Pocket - First handheld I actually owned. Green one. And I played Pokemon on it because I was like 11 or 12. I actually played through the entire Blue version without losing a single fight. Ever. On the first playthrough. Oh yeah, this is when the Game Boy Camera came out... That was fun.

Game Boy Color - Just about the only interesting thing I can really think of about this was Link's Awakening DX or whatever it was called. Hard to believe that the ability to display so many colors at once seemed so cutting-edge.

Game Boy Advance - The original model hurt my hands and I couldn't see the screen very well, but the SP fixed those problems. I have a good few games for this one stacked up around here, actually, many of which are of the Mega Man persuasion, to include the Zero series and Battle Network 2. River City Ransom EX, a rare find, was also very fun, and so were Sonic Advance 1 and 2... Never played 3.

Nintendo DS - My old-fashioned blue model is holding up fine except a small eccentricity in the L button. I'll shortly be looking into a router with both wired and wireless capability so I can hardwire my actual Internet but have a WiFi access point for this and other platforms... Then I'll be in business. I need to play Elite Beat Agents again.

PS1 - Got this as a hand-me-down, and pretty much all I played for it with any sort of regularity were the Gundam Battle Assault vs. fighter games and, of course, the 4 Mega Man games that came out for it.

PS2 - Got this for Christmas in either the same year or the year after the Gamecube. The stack of games I own for this is tremendous. San Andreas is sitting on the top of said stack at the moment, over Soul Calibur 3, Lego Star Wars II, and Guitar Hero II.

PSP - This little thing has a pretty bad rep, and there are definitely a couple of hardware shortcomings that I've come to expect from a company like Sony, but hey, I'm enjoying it. The games I have with the most playability are Tekken: Dark Resurrection, and the two GTA Stories games. There are a couple of others I'd like to check out, as I hear Burnout Legends is pretty decent, and recently a friend of mine has been talking convincingly about a less common game called Monster Hunter Freedom 2 or some such.

Wii - I've owned this for 2 days and my right elbow knows it.

The first console i remember, i cant remember the name of, but the controllers were little pads (like you find on ipods/mp3's now) with the little circle and like 1 or 2 buttons, i had some kind of formula 1 racing game for it and a few others that i never played, i was somewhere around 5-6 years old when i had this.

NES - this was my second console, had mario/duckhunt, some paintball game and others, about 15 games in total

Sega genesis - I got this as my second console with a 32x and a sega cd add on - i had about 30-40 games total, doom, spiderman, sonic, racing games, etc.

Sega saturn - i eventually sold my sega genesis and bought this, i got about 15 or so games for it but i didnt keep it long.

Gameboy color - i never was very interested in this but i had it for when i took trips, i had about 5 games for it, wrestling, some bmx game and football

N64 - i sold the saturn and bought this, had games such as goldeneye, duke nukem, mario 64, ridge racer about 35 games total i loved this system.

Dreamcast - Some christmas (a year before all the games/consoles were stopped in production) i got this system, i had 30 some games for it, i would have kept it for a long time but it became harder and harder to find games for it. Some games i had were sonic, dead or alive, soul caliber, etc.

Xbox - i finally got an xbox after wanting one for a long time, i had 45 or so games for it such as Virtual fighter, quake tournament(something like that), crimson skies, star wars battlefront I/II, madden 07, etc.

I dont have any of these systems anymore but im hoping to get a 360 sometime when the prices come down to where i can afford it.

PsX 7502... probably that model I dont remember, PsOne is piece of feck.
Very long played demos and first introduced with Doom exactly in demo, Gantlet level which I liked and mastered to perfection, also played in classic PC series.
Full  PsX games enjoyed to the end:
FF7 (legendary, first time in three months)
FF8 (first time in three months)
LoK: Soul Reaver (later in one day, why the feck, they cut entire awesome game into several sequels, where's Turel from clan Turelim if there's his vampires?! Where's scene (possibillity) to kill Ariel in Pillars area to get Ariel reaver if last area have scene with Raziel doing this, why Kain reaver isn't in final game = also at scene in last area, both swords can be accesed only by cheats)
Medievil (later in one day) - I like entire series but this have better atmosphere, better enemies and various scenery, also that dark gothic theme and more feeling of horror than Medievil 2, that the only one Glass Demon, Dragon Armor, lots of zombies, demons, awesome levels... masterpiece in any way)
Medievi 2 (later in one day, I liked that Ripper and entire Whitechapel level, Cathedral levels, psychotic circus, hated green heads, liked Dankenstein minigame, Gatling Gun and Gold Armor, this have better storyline and ending than first part)

-more, but dont remember

Sega Master System
Nobody has ever even heard of this monster? It's Sega's 8Bit that challenged NES I think, but since NES sold so well this one wasn't sold
much. I've got only two games for it, and another one of them is build-in.

NES
Well, we all know everything about it. But I'd like to mention a game I had for it, called The Guardian Legend. IMO it's one of the best games for NES, and if you don't have it and you're a NES freak then you should get this one.

SNES
I got this one a few years after I got my nes, and I really loved it. I had only three games for it, F-Zero, Super Mario World, and The Legend of the Zelda: A Link to the past. Those were the shit those days. :D It was sold because of PS1.

But.. Last summer I rebought this classic. I've got 9 games on it now! :o

Vectrex
This one is a rare(?) console and works a bit differently than usual consoles. Details here.

Amiga A500
Classic, shitloads of games, nice stuff. Too bad it broke a few months ago when I powered it up. :(

PlayStation 1
Well, got a lot of games for it. Some of my favourite games are Ridge Racer, Ridge Racer Type IV, Gran Turismo, Tekken 2 & 3, and Final Fantasy Chronichles.

PlayStation 2
Got a few games for this one too, I'd like to mention Armored Core 2 since it's ownage game. :D You should try it out! :D

GameBoy Color
Got Pokemon Gold and Metalgear Solid for it. They're both good games, but I've fucking lost everything related to it! :( They're in my house but I really don't know where and I really would like to know.

I think my 7 computers can be also mentioned here? :o I've played with them after all. ;_; Oh yeah, and I've got a classic laptop from the 80's too.

I also had GameBoy Advance a year or a two ago. I didn't pay much for it, and I bought F-Zero: GP-Legends for it, but I really didn't like them and I sold them. ._. IMO GBA is useless. Atleast Gameboy Color is a classic, but I don't find anything good in this one. Well, maybe the controls but nah, buttons sucked after all.

NES (I can vaguely remember sucking at mario and duckhunt)

GBC (Only game I ever got for that was Pokemon Silver; I must have played that thing for 200+ hours before it broke. Got 'em both for $20)

GBA ($20 off a friend who had spilled a slurpie on it. The sound never worked right after that.)

PS2 (Each of my brothers paid for half of it. I, having only $50 at the time, bought a memory card, a game, and a controller)

DS Lite (Got it for $85 from one of my brother's friends who needed cigarette money.)

I also got a GBA SP from the same guy years before, but it broke and couldn't charge anymore. My normal GBA I ended up giving to his 5 year old brother after I got my DS.

Me too. The first console i ever got was a Xbox the day the 360 was coming out. Why? Because I heard 360's had some problems and my parents wouldn't buy me a $300 console. But eventually (last summer) they got me a 360. The games i have are Halo 1,2,3, Forza Motorsports and thats about it.
