Mah graphics arts.
« on: January 03, 2008, 10:15:05 am »
Bleeding Planet:

This was mainly my messing with brushes and different linear and burning tools.

Aaron:

Some certain die hard fans should recognize this, hopefully. But yeah, some fractal tests.

Wariofiti:

Me messing with graffiti styled texts and filters.

So, what do you think?

They're alright. But it's nothing more than brushes and filters really..
Try messing around alot more.
Your bleeding planet picture could have more blending, and it's to cluttered for such a small picture.

Your Aaron picture has to much over the actual picture, don't be afraid to use the eraser. It could also have more in as it's quite empty. And again, needs some blending.

Your Wariofiti is the best out of the three, but it looks a bit plain.

Keep messing around and you'll get better, and try using lots of different filters/layers together.

NO! Don't use filters! It's the worst way to edit an image! Use liquify, smudge, blur, anything except filters.
And I liked 'Bleeding Planet' most of the three ;)

Things like Gaussian blur, motion blur, ripple, sphere can help with blending or other good effects.

Gaussian blur, motion blur, other blur are okay, but Artistic filters are evil.

Yes, stay far away from them.

Are you using GIMP or Photoshop??
I liked them they're pretty cool, although i agree, using filters seems like cheating.

How the heck are filters cheating? They are just like any other tools, smudge, blur, etc. to help you create a desired effect.

I am more in the mind that brushes are cheating, unless you make the brushes yourself.

Well, for the Bleeding Planet, I got rid of the small meteorite in the corner, and resized the ringed planet, and changed its color to look closer. I also made the explosion bigger, and made a faded asteroid trail for the one that hit the planet.
