Desert Eagles
« on: January 11, 2008, 06:05:14 pm »
Hi,

Just registered to post this topic.

I am a known player from the r/s community - known for being a complete n00b with DEagles.

My oppinion is strongly biased but i'll just whine it anyway :p

Imho, the DEagles are underpowered compared to the other weapons (and i'm talking mostly about the realistic.ini but i think some might apply for normal aswell).

On top of the trouble i find aiming at anyone because the bullet arc is hard to master, there is lag, but that affects everyone, but, correct me if i'm wrong, DEagles also suffer from causing no / less damage sometimes.

Spas and m79 suffer most from the same bug.

There is also the bullet speed which makes it harder to aim because you have to predict the enemies movement even at mid range.

Headshotting with DEagles in ctf r/s is VERY hard and everyone who plays it regurarly can second this.

Killing enemies without headshotting is even harder because it requires you to hit 3-4 shots, sometimes more, because of the reasons mentioned above.
You will often kill faster with a socom than DEagles.

I also realised that sometimes 1 bullet will hit the head while the other will hit the body requiring you to hit another shot (1 shot = 2 bullets) which may never come because you are already dead. There is also a problem when you are crouched in a collider, one of the bullets will hit it, firing only one bullet per shot.

So, on to suggestions:

. Make DEagles only fire 1 bullet per shot instead of 2, or, switch to having only one DEagle and 2 Socoms.

. Increase the damage so it always kills with 1 HS, 3 body or leg shots.

. Create a separate .ini for realistic and realistic survival.

. Fix the registering bug.

Its very hard to use DEagles and still be competitive with them in r/s, i think the community aggrees with it.

Thank you for your time.

MonK

Just had another idea while typing,
. Switch Ruger and DEagles bullet speed and bullet arc.

That would mean a fast shooting, lower damage, 7 clip, 'straight arc' Ruger...
and a slow firing, higher damage, 4 clip, 'strong arc' DEagles.

The reasoning behind this is that ruger is easier to aim than DEagles.

DE is a very powerful weapon, 3-4 shots will break a Man's bones, In realistic, 2-3 will be enough to kill someone. You just need some practice with placing your shots.

Practise. It's all you need. I've been playing with the DE's for a while, and I must say, I've almost mastered the arc and it hasn't screwed up my other weapons. I change my aiming/shooting style for each gun. It is a VERY powerful weapon when used correctly and can definately outgun a socom user. The only reason why some socom users are outgunning DE'ers is the fact that the Deagler does not know how to use the weapon. The gun is certainly not underpowered.

No, He doesn't need practice.

Many people try working on the deagles for months and months and still find it incredibly hard to aim or have your hits actually damage the opposing player..

So yeah I agree with Monk :)
(also you have to try usuing them in a normal r/s match.. it is way easier to get kills with an auto xD) (comparing)

Monk is a very experienced DEagler, practise isn't the answer.

Yep, and another idea:
In real life, try shooting 2 DEagles at once.
Make it double the speed, but 1 bullet and 10 ammo or something.

Monk is also an experienced DEagler.

Deagles kill in 2 shots, at most times. So whats the problem? Is trying to make your fav weapon 1hit a "weapon balance"? You say about "3-4 shots" - where?? Realistic? 2 shots. 3 if you hit legs, or with richo's.

Flames - yes, you CAN kill with 2 in normal. But it's matter of luck more than skill (2x head while running at the enemy in close range).

DEagles are fine in Normal, and i avoid them like the plague because they're not very practicle, sure look cool but.
In fact they are very competitive in Normal mode, i use them alot.
Lol, internets.

I like the idea of 1 headshot = kill, other than that, no. Deagle has amazing dmg and rate for a semi. the arc its what balance it.

I can't speak for realistic, but I've been Deagling on Normal for a very long time.  The damage in Normal is fine.

Right now the damage on normal is about 2 headshots close range is a kill.  3 shots most of the time. The only thing I would do about changing the "Damage" would be to make it stronger at slightly longer ranges.  Currently if an enemy is on the edge of your screen and you pelt them with shots, its very weak.

DO NOT: Change the Arc or Speed, they are what make the eagles interesting and fun to use, it would just make it a weaker Ruger.

I've noticed people always complain about the hit-reg, but its no where near as bad as it was before, so I really don't mind it being like this.

I'm sorry but what you are saying for the most part seems to completely ruin the Deagles. They don't need a damage buff or anything at the moment, they are perfect.

Edit: Can someone tell me the point of saying how amazing Monk is? This is Weapon Discussion, not how many asses can we kiss in one topic.

The problem with that, is that I don't believe that's possible to do in the weapons.ini.  Increasing the damage would make them to terribly powerful at close range, but increasing the speed would kill that arc that makes deagles, well, deagles.

It would be nice to see something like what rai said implemented, unfortunately, I don't see that happening, because beta-testers can only do so much to change the weapons.

Well, deagles can suck to people that never used before. but if you're experienced, you'll own many people. well, I'm usually a sniper, so i absolutely need a secondary weapon like a pistol or LAW. when i see people deagles, i absolutely go after them first, because they can be another amazing secondary weapon.
fast shooting, strong, mid range. what other secondary pistol weapon is better than that?

They are just saying i'm experienced with DEagles because the first replies were: "You just need practice."

If any of you think that DEagles can be as competitive as most other weapons i would like you to try and play competitive ctf realistic survival and prove me wrong.

I'm sorry, but you really need to form a post that is actually worth reading through in the Weapon Balance section.

Gtfo, and learn to read. R/S... again? R/S. Means realistic survival.

As long as you can kill with 1 shot, it's a good weapon...
