overpowered barret
« on: January 25, 2008, 01:16:28 pm »
I noticed that the barrets are Overpowered! A shot in the foot will kill a person, a shot on the arm will kill a person also. (This arm shot is tested by shooting a person from below, and yes, it's hard to shoot an arm.) I my self is a barret lover, but it's no fun if the gun is just really a one shot kill!   :-\ I think on the version 1.5, barrets should at least just give 90/95% of damage to the health when shot on leg or the arm.

It needs to be a one hit kill otherwise it's practically a really slow, harder to aim Ruger. Its long fireinterval can sometimes be the death of the Barrett wielder in a medium-sized DM server. Its usefulness is limited to larger maps like Shau or ctf_Run. Plus, the bink is 100... one little bullet will make your aim completely inaccurate. The movementacc is 7, which means you must stop moving and let go of all keys for one second to make your shot - and this is not 100% guaranteed - accurate. I'd say the Barrett is quite the balanced one shot weapon.

In real life, having your arm or leg completely obliterated by a gun you will most likely bleed to death, think of soldat as a faster acting "Common Sense" barrett.

... You cant hit only a arm on soldat.

And barrett hitting legs and not killing would make it underpowered. Its not a zomg overpowered, since they added the "delay" in 1.3.1.

If I could change anything about the barret, I would make the click-shot delay just the slightest bit longer, perhaps by a quarter of a second or so, so that a rushing AUG user has the chance to bink if he's very very quick.

Omg. There are NO arm-hits in Soldat...
head/torso/legs

It is balanced with delay, moveacc, 4 sec bullet load and bink... (moveacc - aviodable, delay - avoidable, bink - a bit of luck and you can hit even when being shot with auto...) ... so for 'normal' people it's ok.

In real life, the Barrett is semi-automatic and can peirce 25mm of steel plate.

It's a tank gun it's designed to take out tanks and their treads.
So if metal is harder then reinforced steel plate on a tank, then imagine what it would do to a person.

(I'm pretty sure the barret was banned form use on humans in war time by some national organization and the last person that used it to kill a person went to jail i think )
Lol, internets.

Yea, in real life you're considered dead when you get hit by a .50 cal barrett round.

Taking the Barrett from the "one-hit-kill" weapon list would make it utterly unused.

Barrett is already very balanced imo. If you think about it, it's kinda like taking all the bullets in your auto (HK or Steyr) and firing them in one super fast bullet. The fire interval is about the same.

But instead of having the movement acc of an HK or Steyr, you get this crappy movement acc and a bink that would make your reticule the size of an elephant.

You won't die if you wear bulletproof vest.
You fail to understand the whole Anti-Tank-Rifle thing, Are you a tank? No, Are you covered in plated steel that is designed to stop high velocity rounds? No You would still die if you were wearing a vest, This gun literally blows people apart, As in whoops where did my lower fucking torso go?
So wearing a vest won't do squat.

No in game the barret is very clean, it's got alot of bink, but in the right hands it's very deadly.
On the downside, If you are within 10-20 meters of a person with a barret and you bink them, you're still likely to die, Because the barret's bullet still goes brutally straight, lesson is, don't get too close, Ok.
Lol, internets.

I laugh at noobs who haven't seen the actual power of the 82 in person. This is a gun that will knock you on your ass if you're dumb enough to fire it standing upright. It doesn't matter where you get hit; you're f*cked.

People who compain about the Barrett's power in-game should lurn2strategy. It's a slow-ass weapon; try dodging instead of rushing forward like an idiot. Or not; it makes it much easier on us snipers.
To sum up my point: We had a multipage debate about toilet padding. (Putting TP in the water so you don't get splashed.)
And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.

The barret has been used in many assinations and It has been stoped by NO armor on a person so far. We need an elephant gun if the barret isn't considered one.

Yeah, the Barrett is well balanced. There is no reason to tweak it any more.
