It tears people to pieces in Real Mode. I use it as an ace-in-the-hole when I'm getting swarmed.

immryan: I have only seen a handful of players complain about the Minimi over the last year. I am a public DM player, but I am reasonably skilled.

You say you often play in gather and clanwars, yet you are saying that it's widley acknowledged to be overpowered in public servers... isn't that inconsistent?

Also, you have not provided any real reasons

Well my point was gather players and decent players realise that its overpowered, the pubs will whine and cry about anything (weapon hypocracy).

Well my point was gather players and decent players realise that its overpowered

But you didn't make a point, you just made a sweeping statement that gather players and decent players think it's overpowered. Do you have any logical explanation for this? Are you going to give a reason why you think it's overpowered or are you just going to leave me with that sweeping statement?

And by saying that gather players and decent players realise that it's overpowered is saying that anyone that says it's overpowered isn't a 'decent' player. Now I may be getting picky here, but by using the word "realise", it sounds like you're putting it across to us that your opinion is absolute fact and those decent players have been enlightened to it.

I'm not saying people should explain everything in great detail whenever they mention something about a community or weapon, but I really can't just take your word for it that all/most decent Soldat players think like that. Especially when it is, in my experience, quite rare for the Minimi to be even remembered, let alone whined about.

And we are hijacking this thread into the Weapon Balance Discussion forum.

Actually instead of bursts just click for every shot. You shoot straight for each shot.
Agreed. I do that for AK-47 in R/S.

don't click for every shot, thats a load of rubbish. you can fire as accurately as the ak even when holding the button down it.. just takes practice.

People dont usually do that. They want an OMG short way of doing it.

Like any weapon, there are ways to overcome the minimi. Everyone thinks the barrett is overpowered in the hands of a skilled user. In fact, people think it is with anyone. But when it comes down to it, the minimi has severe flaws as well. Like, in close  quarters.. Due to it's long reload time it's impossible to use in arreas where a number of enemies will keep coming from the same little route. 'Cept of course if you choose o camp at the exit, but if you wanna advance I mean.

The minimi is pretty damn good, no doubt about it. But that's all there is to it.

the sworn enemy of a Fn-Minimi is the Ruger rifle. What makes the Fn-Minimi so damn colossal is that it has insanely far travling bullets which means it's speed surpasses all the others except for the minigun. As you know- the bigger the speed- the more damage it does in height- advantageous situations- it is not the damage that determines this, its the speed. I believe this could somehow be fixed a bit by decreasing the bullet number from 50 to 45 and decreasing the reload time respectively. This kind-of cuts the sharp edges of this weapon being a maniacal spray Baron.

Don't be silly. The damage and bullet speed has equal say in the formula for final damage. If anything it's worse when having a height advantage since its bullets gain procentually less additional bullet speed when traveling downwards compared to, for example, the mp5 since it had less speed to start with.

Soldat physics are weird. Fire a bullet at about a 60 degree angle upwards, and when it comes back down it'll be perpindicular to the ground, and travelling much slower than before. Go figure.
To sum up my point: We had a multipage debate about toilet padding. (Putting TP in the water so you don't get splashed.)
And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.

Soldat physics are weird.

You're telling me.  It's like warring inside a giant vat of glycerine or jell-o, with the aid of jump packs, while every combatant's body contains roughly 15 gallons of blood.

Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake.  Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big old storm right in the eye and says, "Give me your best shot. I can take it."

minimi is perfectly balanced in soldat. in real mod, it takes like 3~5 to kill people, but has a big recoil. this gun prolly is one of the best gun in soldat i think

What? The minimi has very little recoil, making it one of the most accurate weapons available in R and R/S.

if you know how to use it right, then it's the best weapon in soldat ever.
though it's really hard to master it. i recommend you to use ak till u master it.
btw if you wanna use minimi properly, contact me...

I like the Minimi having low recoil but high movement inaccuracy, as it lets you use it more like the machinegun that it is. :)

I recomend just using almost nouthing but the Minimi and practice practice and practice. That's how I mastered it. The Minimi can be quite a veritile weapon; so while it can be very usefull to learn the other weapons, you can still get away with being a pure minimier.
