i've been using and testing the minigun for a day, and it wasn't much effective. and i was wondering that which game mode will have the best effect for the minigun.

CTF was one of my guess, because you can go faster when you shoot the minimi back.

As it is now it's really quite useless, both in real- and normal-mode. I suppose it can be used in large maps with huge open gaps, to sort of stall snipers and the like. Only problem is that you won't get any kills, you'll just help your teammates stay alive, and we all know the average soldier put's himself and his score before his team.

Yeah, it CAN be used in large open maps, but how many do you know of where the minigun will actually be better than any given weapon for any given purpose? It might be useful occasionally, but on almost all of those occasions something else would do a better job.

It's a 'specialty' weapon which every other weapon beats at it's own game.

If you are an inch away from an enemy and have no chance of missing, it's an effective killer. Other than that, yes, it's useless when used as an actual weapon. But if you want to boost your teammates or bink snipers or fly across the map, it's perfect!

Server lags more when someone is spraying with minigun...
"outdated computers" ?? - fps loss, not lag.

i tried using minigun in the CTF mod, and YES it still SUX. i tried to like scare the other players, but they kill me. try to speed up to get the flag, but they kill me. in the matter, minigun probably is the worst weapon for me (possibly in soldat)

Spas-12 is probably better for CTF. Its pretty devastating in close quarters, but it also boosts you a limited bit. Just dont use it on the enemy flagger. Chances are he'll get a free trip to his flag from a spas in the back.

the minigun is the worst wep in the whole game. It used to be able to replace jets but now its just weak. SOCOM PWNS

It can only kill if you go super close and spam it right in the face with every bullet hit and the enemy cornered to a wall. But the spas may stand a chance against this lol.

It is purely a support and fun weapon.

Maybe if the server is a potato with USB cords stuck in it it MIGHT lag. It's clientside fps drops that happen due to shit computers.

its really just a crappy chainsaw with an extended range that makes you a lot slower.

Try using the minigun on single player. It actually has great potential. I just fear that its horrible hit detection on internet server one day will be fixed and alot more people starts to use it.

Fixing the minigun's hit detection has high priority in the 1.5 release.

Now everyone, stop talking about the minigun's poor hit detection cause that's just not contributing. If you feel like judging it, do it based on single player experiance where it works as intented.

Minugun ruins different games, because some noobs gets tired of dying all the time, and are camping the base with the gun, just spraying.
