I have some disturbing news.i have dial up as you all know and its download rate SHOULD be 56 kb/sec but wehn i download its download rate is 2 kb/sec now thats really messed up.i deleted 90 junky files and still its 2 kb/sec is there something wrong here??

56k is 56 kilobites, not kilobytes. That translates to around 5 kilobytes, but usually its normal to stay at 2. Sorry, you're out of luck.

I fear I may have gotten the two words spelled wrong, but you get the picture.

that's kilobits per second, not kilobytes. there are 8 bits in a byte, so 56 divided by 8 is 7. it's normal to get 2, BECAUSE YOU SUCK!

yes but isnt cable pretty fast not super super fast but enough to atleast download 100mb in like 2hr instead of waiting for 2 days to download

That sucks dsdude, whe I had 56k I still downloaded at like 7-15kbps. Not I have DSL and I have a rate of anywhere from 42-500kbps.

yeah I had 56k until I moved 2 years (wow, only two years) ago, and it completely sucked. Occasionally I'll end up on dial up again and it drives me crazy. It's like watching regular TV after getting tivo.

100mb on a 2kbps connection == 14.2 hours, not 2 days.
100mb on a 20kbps connection == 1.4 hours.
100mb on a 100kbps connection == 17 minutes, not two hours.
100mb on a 300kbps connection == less than 7 minutes.

i have dialup its at 4kbps it still takes more than 14 hrs!

it is because AOL is the worst dial-up provider so you get bad download speeds, even for dial-up.

AOL makes me laugh. When I had it, it usually stayed at a steady 2,KBps, occaisionally dropping to 768,Bps (BYTES per second!). Meanwhile, my friends, who had Earthlink and the like complained about their "slow" 16KBps connection. If that's bad enough, AOL also installs a crapload of useless shit onto your computer, thus slowing it down significantly and always eating 35MB of RAM (which, in the 64MB RAM days, was a shitload).

Get fucking Earthlink or something already.
