Hey guys.  i noticed a few people around like boots were making mods nd things.  so i decided to have a crack at GFX for weapons.  I've come a long way from what i first posted in aussoldat forums, and this is where im at:


These are the menu weapons tho, i'm yet to bother with in-game since theres not much point, or difference.
i know most of you people around here have made a lot of stuff that makes mine look like vomit, but these weapons took about half an hour each at max, so ill say within weeks (as long as i'm actually working on them) you'll see a fair  improvement.

EDIT: they're actually more "detailed" than they look, in game against a darker background you can see the shading a bit better.  the white background was a bad idea, ill go ahead and put together a better example

That doesn't look much like a glock, spas 12 looks ok, but my tip: use a brighter colours, and then shade ...

I dunno. I thought you had something there with your silhouettes. Sky, I'm not sure we have to have everyone here doing the exact same style...I mean, was there a golden rule that said, "Thou shalt always make interface guns to look like a picture from worldguns.ru?"

Your Spas and Minimi aren't too bad, but definitely work on your MP5 and Glock shapes.

Btw, HairTrigger, you need to legalize your sig before the mods take it away.

i'm not saying that, with right colours i meant with colours that fin on the soldat weapon, not real one. Sorry was my fault

I like the shapes of the FN Minimi and the Spas-12. They look good as silhouettes on the white background but in game it's bit too weak IMO. Maybe you can try and give them brighter contrast.

well i figured if you look at the screen from a higher angle you can see them a bit better, especially on an LCD screen, with the brighness turned up high.   thanks for the tip, i got similar responses from aussoldat forums, make them brighter xD.  thats todays project then i guess....

Your weapons don't fit to the soldat standard weapons.

You should make them smaller or a full modification!

What I understood is that he wondered if you could color the haircuts. In your screenshot you mentioned 4 different colors so... are they pre colored orare they grayscaled so you can use your own color?

umm... still not makin much sense... but what i did was i added some black around the border of the "dred" image in the image files.  to change colours, just change the haircolour of your character in the options. the defaults i tried all work. also:

i diddnt have too much trouble with the magazine, but i'm really stuck with the shading, i have no idea where to put it!!  my current method is putting a brighter colour in the central most part of each area on the gun, then just fade it outwards, darker and darker til it matches in properly, but i just cant find the right spot to put it.(note that the above weapon is not shaded)  point me in the right direction please, or gimme another method to play around with.

MY technique for drawing weapons is quite simple. I don't know if people like the results, but I like using either way

First off you draw the entire weapon in black to get the shape right. After you've completed the form, add the basic color areas (dark grey handle, lighter grey barrel, green plasma tank etc). Now you can choose to outline your weapon, or you can do it after you've finished it otherwise. Remember that making round and sharp corners in outlining is very important.

The shading part is easy. First, if using paint, chose your "basic color area" and chose a ton of shades for it. Then color it completely with the darkest shade, usually nearly black. Next make the highlight points with the lightest shades, and work your way from light to dark.

Well, that was my little tutorial. It doesn't compare to Henito Kisou's or many other's tutorials, but I just felt like writing something. Ask them for more in-depht advice.

Oh, imo your guns don't have any problem with outlining and shape, but they lack all the highlights

ah..  I remember this my first topic ever

I dont have the dreds anymore dude, it isn't hard to make just put a black outline around them (on one side only) in paint, and you get black mixed with your hair colour
