No, that is an explosion on the bottom. I'm using SK's alpha Tattoo redux explosion. I personally like it, but I'll leave it for CP4 to decide.

Um, Tim, I didn't say that the laser should be more opaque OR more red. I said it looked better than before because of those things...

And yeah, thats the explosion not the flamer (you can see that he is 'glowing' greeny-blue a bit in that screen shot. That's 'cos he set himself on fire. The fire sprays out of the flamer blue, going through green to yellow flame at the end, and it looks awesome).
I havn't seen the explosions in action so I'll hold off commenting untill CP4.

Sorry, it's not feasible due to how Soldat animates the parachute. Modifying the parachute POA is also out of the question, since it's just going to look bad in the end, anyways, since all para-ropes face the right. Besides, the "HEV" will be flapping about retardedly.

Headshot badge, or the player tells you 'Holy sh**, Nice headshot with the Rocket pod. (its more unlikely you'll get the headshot badge due to it as an explosion weapon.)

Yeah, an HEV wouldn't really work with the soldat parachute system.

I'm going to add a few more changes for CP4 before I release it [sorry!] for your evaluation. Among the to-do list is to fix some graphical issues [mostly gun proportions and coloring], the Spartan Laser sound, and changing the UNSC Combat Knife to Papasurf's almost prophetic "Stray Needle." From I gather from Blackburn's account of Halo: Contact Harvest, Needler spines were used as makeshift knives by the Covenant, so I think people will like that.

And whoa, I feel like I haven't been here in a looooong time.
As for the whole Splazer opacity, it's actually too dark, your version.  It's whitish in the middle, and it gradually goes from pink to a light shade of crimson.
And the entire firing sequence is more like shooting a rocket than an actual laser.  In fact, there's an explosion when it hits something.

Okay then, how about the Splaser as M79 replacement, shooting fast, invisible M79 nades with the laser being the flash ehh? I really don't want to have it as the LAW since it would just nerf the gun into non-awesomity.

I think that there's no real way to fix that.  You can either go with the explosion, or the windup sound.  Your choice.

Oh, and I vote for energy knives!

Found out... It's called an "Energy Cutlass" and it's pretty much... a needler needle. I mean, it even explodes when you stick it into guy. As they say, "If it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck..."

Anyways, time for the next slew of graphical updates:



I haven't added the Energy Cutlass yet. What I did change are:

[] Extended SRS barrel length
[] Darkened Brute Shot "wheel" grip
[] Reworked Spiker proportions and color
[] Completely reworked Plasma Rifle
[] Tweaked M7 SMG
[] Fixed greenish pixels in M6D mag outline
[] Changed the M41 proportions so they're now right. It's ugly, but it's right.
[] Slightly modified SRS shot

Not visible updates were:

[] Updated Flamer [fixed proportions]
[] Updated AIE-486 HMG [fixed proportions]

[Plasma Rifle - CP4]



I completely reworked the Plasma rifle this time. As you can see, I removed the cooling fins from the menu graphic, not only because it doesn't detract [I think it looks better, in fact], but also because any way it's done, it will look awkward, lest I resort to PNGs for menu graphics, which has the annoying resampling bug that bothers the hell out of me -- so that's a 'no.'
I also changed the in-game to a less bright-blue graphic, which I think looks a lot better and like the real thing.

[Fixed AIE-486 HMG]


CP4 has gone completely Halo 3 now that I slapped the old M247 aside in favor of the AIE-on-a-tripod. I might replace it with the Covenant Plasma doodad, but that'll cause issues with the tracers for all weapons, something that I'm not too keen on messing with.

Looking good as per usual Esp.  Yea, there was an cutlass type energy weapon that Jackals used when Sgt. Johnson and the other marine (Can't remember the name) fight the jackals in a cargo ship, but in the end as well the grunts had the needler shards(that did explode when thrown or stabbed into a marine). I think they were different weapons but I could try and figure it out again...

the Sniper rifle's barrel needs to be even longer(it looks BIG in Halo2)...

I love the new bullet gfx.

everything looked VERY nice.

can't wait to get the CP4.
