If Soldat developed a swear filter...
« on: February 21, 2008, 05:55:56 pm »
How would you react to that change? What would Soldat be like with a swear filter, and how would your way of life be changed? I myself, would rant about this repeatedly in the fisting forums, and eventually, try to find a way to bypass the damn thing, as with most games. Adding a swear filter would also feel so "unnatural," to see *'s when you cursed. So how would you react?

Soldat is a MAN's game, so why the hell would there be a swear filter? You must've been playing r00nscape, man.

haha, spot on.

To be honest, I don't think we rfeally need one. I mean, the only ones clever enough to actually make you take notice are often funny at it as well.
I fucking miss all you cunts!

Gratz on your 1337th post. I should have said "...r00nscape, boy." on afterthought. >.<

Besides, the community might go a bit crazy with what the filter replaces with. I'm betting some would want the classic "****" and others the SF-community standbys like "feck" [which I think is just silly-retarded sounding]. Either way, it's just "no." Just... no.

I wasn't suggesting it, just wanting to know how you would react if there was. :-\

I don't mind a swear filter too much. Most people who use swearing lacks the capacity to communicate/think normally and abuse it.
But then, people would start seeing butchered attempts at swearing instead.

Odd you see it that way; swearing, to me, is just a stronger way to express yourself, (ex: 'damn' sounds alot stronger and angrier than 'dang') though a lot of people do abuse it... I am one of them.

What if it's client side? Then you could just choose what replaces f*ck, and if you're against filtering, just make it f*ck again. Then it's really not an issue at all.

Then he doesn't change it? Seriously (assuming that's* the case), is this really an issue?
*'that' in this context meaning the whole idea of a client side swear filter, for you slow ones. Or for the curious types who quoted this to find out what the small text read.

I beg to think that you're joking.  If you did add it, you have just runined Soldat.  Please don't place Soldat in the same condition the forum is in.

Hey, if there was a swear filter added I'd imagine that there'd be a txt file with the replacement words... so....

Then I would filter the "ok" words, butt becomes ass etc...
