Audiosurf
« on: March 01, 2008, 02:19:29 am »
I was a part of the beta that went on for this game, and I must say, anyone who likes really fast paced games, rhythm games/music-oriented games, or games that have unlimited replayability, this game is for you.  I had been away and doing other things but I went ahead and purchased the full version through Steam and played for a few hours.

The unique thing about Audiosurf is that it literally is limitless when it comes to game content.  Upon selecting a character (more or less determines the game-type), the characters are broken up into Easy, Medium and Hard difficulties.  Self explanatory.  However, here comes the fun part.  You select whatever song/audio file you want, given it is a compatible format (although I don't see why you would have a non-compatible format, it takes all major formats including OGG, WMA, MP3, etc.) and it generates the track for you.  Because of this, as the game description says, Audiosurf lets you rediscover your library and as it expands, so does the game.

I must say, Schatten aus der Alexander Welt was the first song I chose to play out of my media library. and I enjoyed it quite thoroughly.

Could you put a link to a free version?, instead of making everyone search for one, it would be nice.

We can't post warez here.

Anyway, I like Mono the best because it's way easier than the normal gameplay.

It's not warez, there is a free demo. but  i would like a version I can get without using steam, if possible.

I don't have any idea how much time I just spent playing this damn game this very night. It's so addictive. Best 10 bucks I've spent since Garry's Mod.

Yup, bought it a week ago or so. I've already got quite a number of Elite high scores (on popular songs as well), even though I play Ninja only.

I found it boring, but I got the orange box soundtrack for free out of the demo, so it was worth it.

of course, I found guitar hero boring, and this is basically guitar hero minus the gimic with any song in your library.

any song in your library.
I find this game to be better than Guitar Hero at least tenfold.  The fact that any song in your library is quickly loaded and playable is reason enough to consider it better than Guitar Hero as far as I'm concerned.

but the gameplay is just as uninteresting.

I tried the demo... it was pretty decent... worth $9.99

It's a nice little idea... the thing is... the entire game relies totally on the fact that you'll like the game because you already like the music in the game and since the game is entirely about music then you are bound to like the game if you try it.

What I was slightly unimpressed with how when I played The Fixx - The Sign of Fire the game decided that it would be great if my car should inch along and stop twice a second just because it has slow paced drum beat. Although since tracks are generated on the fly... at least for now I can assume the game fucked up in a sort of one off way.

Now my demo is over and I want to buy it... Bastards... they actually made me enjoy their game.

Enable Iron Mode (checkbox in the bottom) and play one of the elite characters(like ninja mono). Then it will go fast. More fun on a fast song like Dragonforce - Through the fire and the flames. But may cause injury due to the spastic mouse jerking you need to do.

Well, do it when you buy it that is. :)
