Quick Question: Training wheels

first of all, yes i have put this in the mod section cos it has to do with weapon GFX.
I have just made something that is pretty damn good in my eyes:
However i am not too sure if its "fair"
why? because i kind of cheated it. It is really an image i got from battlefield 2. I re-worked it a bit, it doesnt really look anything like the original as far as i'm concerned. I made it smaller, and darker, and i did modify a few of the pixels because they stuck out fairly awkwardly seeing as i just used MS paint to re size it.  Please tell me if its "okay" to do that, or is it "compulsory" to make the entire weapon completely from scratch.Â

BTW: The barret in my signature was completely made by me, no cheat. Honest

Ok, in few words, you resized it. Right?
At least it looks good but really big. Try to make them more little.
Oh, i really like that barrett, so add the outlines, fix the scope and make it more little and you will have my download

Uff. if every weapon resized there was illegal, i don't think that a lot of us will be there
Don't mind if it is or not, just don't copy from the others and do your own job, that's the important thing, those weapons are nice, but so big, and you should fix the shading, i remade your Barrett a bit, if you like it, take as base and look for some shading tutorials

Just for the sake of your interest in my barret, heres a slightly newer one, im working on the shading still, but heres a general idea of what im gonna do.  ALSO: someone PLEASE tell me how to get rid of those troublesome weapon numbers that get in the way of my slightly oversized designs.

Put spaces insead words on the weaponnames.txt file. Or just do the weapons more little
EDIT: If you mean the numbers, you can't
