Just CAP IT!

CTF match, Each team had teh other's flag, the scores were tied at 7-7, first to 8, and it was every player desperatly clawing to retrive their flag from the enemy's base, where each carrier had decided to hole up in.
A few others and I managed to get the flag back, and as soon as I did all the red team rushed our base. I stayed put, as i knew the ffc could easily step onto our flag. This is the conversation i heard over teamspeak:
(I can't remember any names, i'll just fill in the blanks)

[FFC] Who's flag is this?
[1] I think it's mine, but it doesn't matter.
[FFC] You sure? I mean i don't want to steal your cap.
[1] Yeah i'm fine mate, you take it
[FFC] Alright, if your certain about it.
[ME] JUSE CAP THE DAMN FLAG!

Dunno if this is common place now, I haven't played since 1.4 came out. But I though it was funneh.

Most people don't like to steal caps, it's sort of a common courtesy to give back caps to a player who died with the flag. That or they score, But it's not that uncommon.

yea... with soldat it doesn't matter all that much, but with other games that have CTF, its common courtesy to protect that flag for the guy who died with it (or grab it and give it back to the guy who nabbed it in the first place).

i always give the flag back to whoever did the most work towards getting it to my team.  well i try at least... if the game is moving quickly i dont usally worry about it since nobody cares, and a holdup could only make it worse.

I don't really care who capped as long as its part of my team.

However, I would give credit to the one who originally went through the trouble to get the flag but was killed or dropped the flag.

Yeah I know the ettiquit(sp) about giving the flag back, I just find it funny that in such a scramble, such high tensity, on the match point that they stopped to obey this unwritten ruling.

I've really only had this problem on Soldiers Of Fortune II, where I had some guy bitching about how I stole his cap. How was I to know that there was a throw flag button? >.<

I normally chuck the flag back to my teammates after they bring 'em back from their epic journey. It is just a courtesy thing, but I never throw it back if there is any risk of enemies returning it and if I do cap, I always give them the credit.

As for me, if I lose a flag 1 inch away from scoring, it doesn't matter. After all, it IS a team game isn't it? You only win, if your team does.

Totally agreed. Although, I was playing in GA 5 just now, picked up the flag an inch from my flag, and capped... and I got called a cheap bastard. >.<

I always try to give it back but if it's too risky then I just cap.
If i lose the flag I just tell them to cap as i never care.

i.e... the last thing I care about is getting my hard earned flag back. Teamwork requires you to PLAY as a team.

I give the flag back to the "true" FFC sometimes.  It sucks when you try to pass and the flag is returned, I feel stupid when that happens.

I like to grab the flag from people who die and have been bitchy all game and watch them follow me as i run to the enemy base, 1% health and try to kill them all. Suicide misson. And the bitchy person gets so pissed off they yell and scream then they leave, saying we'r all noobs. Then we can get back to playing the game
