Vietnam Mod, Help Please?

Hey, I'm making a Vietnam mod (First time.) and I have a few questions... 

First off: I've made some weapons, and they're just about the right size, but everytime I open up the picture (on MS Paint), it has shading that I didn't put there... The "transparency" green has been shaded and is now several colors, and the green has leaked into the guns too... Help? 

Secondly: How do you make it so that the weapon slots are interchangeable with one another? (ie. M16A1 can be replaced by an AK-47) Because I've seen this in some games, especially the Halo Legendary Trilogy (Which looks awesome! Finish it up Espadon! )

1) How exactly are you making your weapons? It sounds to me like you're trying to resize images which possibly have indexed colour pallets (which would explain the colour problems)

2) You need a mod configurator, most probably Lord Ivahns mod configurator. I don't have a link for it though.

Save it as a .PNG file. This should prevent discoloration.

Oh my sweet baby Jesus, Lord Frunkamunch, you are a modding god. I don't have to start my mod all over again! (Well, actually I pretty much still do... )

Thanks a ton, I saved it as a PNG, and it stopped the discoloration! Huzzah! 

EDIT: Maybe a bit TOO crazy on the repect there... Ooops, I'm drooling on the keyboard.

EDIT 2: Oh, and would anyone mind giving me a link to Lord Ivahn's Mod Configurator? (Or whatever it is) I Googled it, but I still cant find it...

Wait... were you saving as .jpeg or .gif or something?

That would explain it. Paint likes to totally degrade images when you use compression formats.
