M79... Noob?

Don't you think that "m79 noob" is overused? I agree, It's quite lame when somebody just kamikazes into you, killing you but not himself, but... there are still solid m79 players *coughlikemecough* who should not be called m79 noobs. I basically only played with m79 and Minimi in normal mode since like, very last months of reign of 1.2.1. I'm quite good with this weapon, and please, before you call somebody m79 noob, consider if he acted nooby. I got called after killing somebody with shot like that:

It was quite good IMHO, and for sure not nooby...

What do you think about m79? Do you call other people m79 noobs just because they use, regardless of their skills?

Those discussions about M97 noobs and balance of M79 are damn borring and sensless...

It's easy to kill somebody with M79 but it should be used like mortar to clear terrain moment before frendly team attack. It's hard to hit somebody from M79 at long distance mainly because long flying time.

Imo the shoot you showed was really good but I also think that you had luck that you've hit this guy.

I call most of the m79 users noobs because they are!
But it's not about the weapon. Like 10% are really good m79 users, but the oter 90% are just noobs...

My prediction for this guy's lifespan on the forums is quite low.

The "OMG M79 NOOB WEAPON" is an overused stereotype used by true n00bs who can't admit their own failure. By no means am I saying that there are brain cases out there who act like total idiots with the thing. But, that doesn't change the fact that the 79 has its own advantages and disadvantages that a skilled player can make proper use of. Most newbies are quickly drawn to it because of its damage output and the fact that it throws things that go boom. However, the arc on the shots require a certain element of skill to gauge, and timing your attacks is key, since if you miss, you're pretty much screwed.

Seeing people whine about the 79 gives me a headache. Learn to seperate the professionals from the retards.

Depends on how you use it.  If you just use it to rush to bases and boost across maps, then that is fairly lame and can be considered a noob.  However, getting a kill like in the first screenshot takes skill and can be respected.

A kill like in the screen takes lack of skill from the person you are playing against. And I think proper boosting is one of the hardest things to do with an m79 when you have another team firing at you.

You post nothing worth mentioning, and it has no relation to the topic. So if I may speak for everyone, No one here likes you at all as far as what I've seen. Flab/Chakra/Vij, atleast give him 2 warnings, for this spam and his gay party joke of a post.

And back to topic: M79 is definatly not a nub weapon, but it can be used as one. The arc/angles and boosting are very useful for me, but some people do use it as nub weapons like when they blow themselves up in a 1vs1 because they don't want you to get a kill, or when they spawn or base camp on Ash. But, some really lucky, or skilled shots can be hard to tell between, and therefore, it can't be considered a nub weapon. Plus, players can be nubs, but not weapons, MM put in all the weapons that he thought would be good. I don't see why no one posts miniguns being nubs, since it's the worst gun to a large majority of Soldat. But, I use all weapons, including minigun and m79, and I do not consider any weapon nuby or anything. I find all guns good, you just gotta learn how to use them, and the people who say m79, saw, minigun, barrett or all those other guns nuby, are the people who are nubs and can't use them... So really, imo, all weapons are good, and none are nooby.

I'm with ranged, partially, i use all weapons except for minigun, just depends on my mood and map, im pretty well-rounded with all of them as well.

m79 is not the only weapon that is hated and called noobish, all weapons have their haters, its just m79 is hated more so than others, thats why you see it more often.

Well truthfully,I think of a M79 has a pretty valuable weapon in "Cramped or Small maps". True,Kamikazing sucks,but I doubt the person will get anywhere in a CW or Gather by Kami Kazing.

M79 Techniques-

*1 hit blow
* Kamikazi
* Poly Hit
* Low HP Wall Hit
* Weaken and Ussocom.

And as Ada said,its not that hard to kill a M79 noob,they have limited range even with a Ussocom/Knife. Espically if a couple autoers,it'll make short work of a M79er.

Public sux. For some players there, every weapon is noob, as long it kills them. Play gathers instead, where most players don't whine about everything.
