As some of you know I am running a realistic deathmatch server with only custom maps.

I want to have as many maps as possible so I am constantly having to ssh in kill the process, upload the map to the server, ssh in again and start the process again.

Is there a way that I can just upload the map files (.pms, scenery, texture) and do some command with arrse so I don't have to restart the server?

You would only restart if you wanted to modify the mapslist, you can upload maps no problem.

Currently, there are no commands for modifying the maplist while the server is running, but 2.5.2 will have those commands when it is released.

Do you know that for sure?

When you first start the server, mapslist.txt is loaded into the memory and the soldat server reads the next map from there. There is no current command to reload mapslist.txt. However, if a map is on the folder /maps with extension .PMS it can be loaded with the /map command at any time. Rember it's case sensitive.

Thanks for the information.

But I was just wondering if you could give me a very rough release date of the next dedicated server?

The best I know is "When It's Done", sorry; it won't be for a while from what I understand.

Hmm.. are you sure it doesn't work ? I just edit mapslist.txt while server is running and after a full mapcycle new maps are playing without a need to restart server.

The maplist is reloaded after every map change.
2.5.2 has a /addmap and /delmap command... it will be ready when its ready.

You can also use the /loadlist command to reload the maplist.
