"Not getting hit was like not getting wet running through the rain!" Photographer of Iwo Jima Flag raising.
"Hey, Sarge, wake up... " Light shone in my eyes, I woke up, only to realize it was 4:00 AM, and we were being sent off to Glory Hill. The plan for Glory Hill was to raid it immediately, they said we had to rush the damned thing. While they were speaking about the strategy, I thought about D-Day. We were going to replicates it, weren't we? *VEOOOORRR* The door to the cabin opened up. "Hey, assholes, get your guns and ammunition!" "if you haven't written your will yet, You better get started!" "We're shippin' off to Glory!"
The rain pattered against the port hole of the ship. It was me, and 30 other men. I don't know how to lead damned missions like this, I didn't even know how many of us would survive. I put on my Bullet Proof Vest, some clothes, 60 shells for the PANCOR JackHammer. Nothing special, the rest was an MP5, 2 C4's, and a small SOCOM. The rest of the squad had received some body armor, MP5s, and one of them, with a medical bag. *POOM* A shell was fired from one of the 10 inch guns aboard the ship, *RAAA*, a round was returned. If we didn't die fighting up the hill, we would die on our ship.
"Hey.. Sarge?" One of my squadmate's trembling voices called out. "Yeah?" I replied. "Are we gonna die today, or are we gonna be like t'ose guys from Iwo Jima?" I felt shocked by the question. I was tired of sh*t questions like that, I replied, "Listen kid, only 3 of the 5 flag raisers made it down the mountain, so atleast 10 of us are gonna die, Got that?" He felt shocked by my reply. He returned to writing his will. The 10 inch guns stopped firing, and it was quiet for a time.
*EEOORR* "Let's move!" It was the signal to move out of the boat, and onto the hard soil of Glory Hill. The air was still, we were running toward the prepared 50. Cal positions that had been placed there overnight to aid us. *SHHEEE* A sniper bullet barely missed my head. The fire started like a Ballad. Our snipers opened fire on the enemy. The air stood still. We walked up the hill, I had my smoke grenades primed in case some messed up sh*t happened. *VEOOOR* *FOOM FOOM!* "SH*T!" Machine guns rained from the sky like hail! One of our snipers were hit, no point in picking him up, I guess. I took cover in one of the trenches, the rest of the squad following suit. One of our snipers took out his BarrettM821A, and began firing at the Machine Guns.
*VOOM* A mortar hit nearby, creating a makeshift trench. "MEDIC! WE'RE DYIN' OVER HERE!" Our medic, one of the few people's names in the squad I knew, was, Maurine. "Can't hold this position Captain! We're gon--" *TING* "HE'S DEAD!" I heard someone scream it out, followed by sobbing.
"Don't make many friends, you'll lose them later." Machine Gun support from the crowd behind us was barely doing any good. They were restricting us from moving! I radioed the little idiots, and told em to hold there fire, move up, and fight along with us. They complied, and machine gun fire from our side stopped. Out of the 5 that had come running over, only 2 made it! We were back up to 30 squadmates now.
An RPG hit the makeshift trench! There was screaming everywhere, Maurine was rushing toward the injured, (Or dead,) Soldiers. "GET YOUR HEAD DOWN!" A trail of MG fire was rushing toward the Medic! I threw a smoke grenade, praying that it would buy us some time to find some where safer then our current position. "CAVE!!!" Our Medic shouted out, "GO GO GO!" "GET IN!!!" We took our guns and ammunition and went into the cave. We reloaded our guns, and set out to attack again. F*ck the MP5, I'mma takin' out the Pancor. We ran into the smoke, and I ran into one of the MG gunners, he didn't even notice! I took out my SOCOM and shot him in the head. I shot 2 more shots from my Pancor into the smoke. I turned the MG around, and opened fire on the snipers in the trenches. "AGHHHHH!!!" I heard screaming from the snipers. I burst into the door of the fort firing my Pancor like a madman. I picked up and M249, threw my Mp5 to one of my snipers, and proceeded. I told the General we had taken the 1st floor of the bunker. We had lost 9 people on the way up, and 12 wounded. 3 more floors to go... I kicked a hole in the door and threw a smoke grenade in.
*Fooom* The smoke grenade released its thick smoke. I jumped in and opened fire with the Pancor. 5 rounds hit something "Fleshy" I reloaded and proceeded with the spraying of the M249, the rest of the squad fired into the smoke crazily as well. I threw down my M249, and took a 50. Cal off the stand. The 2nd floor was cleaned out. The stairs to the third floor had been knocked out, and there were a few C4s at the door, I could tell. I took out a pin, and threw a nade right at the door. It broke through, and the C4's exploded.
"Boost me!" I was tired, I went below the stairs, and proceeded to boosting the Squad up into the third floor. I jumped up, and threw out the C4s that the enemy had placed. There was still smoke lingering in the air, and it was thick. "Aghhhh!!" I heard a squad member screech, he had been impaled. I told the squad to jump out the door back onto the 2nd floor, and stay there. I took out the Pancor, I had 32 rounds left in my pack. I sprayed it wildly and I heard a satisfactory scream of some guards. "Go, go go!" I told my squad to run down to the basement and place there C4's there.
There was an abundance of ammo and grenades in the basement. I threw down my 2 C4's and told my Squad to follow suit. I told them to leave, and give me there C4 controllers. I radioed in, and told em I had the C4's planted. "Proceed," *CRWKKK!!!* All the C4's exploded in the ammo depot. It was one hell of an explosion. I told my squad to get the hell out of there, the rain made running down the hill like running down ice. The ground trembled with the explosion of a years worth of ammo.
I made it to the ship, the General greeted me, "Nice job out there, Captain." We went back to the camp, we made it out alive atleast. Most of us...
"Nice Job, Asshole."
Shortest one, ever. Almost as short as Anoxi, I guess.
New ones are now in fan art/apps section.
