Why do we have so many members w/ 0 posts?
« on: March 16, 2008, 06:19:59 pm »
It bothers me. A large majority of registered members haven't even posted yet. Can't we just delete those "0 post accounts?" Maybe something like, after 5 days without getting past the 0 post count, the account gets deleted? And why are there so many 0 post accounts anyways?

Hmm.. I think a lot of people come online to check out solutions, and when they find the answer, that's basically it for'em. And why would we delete them? They might come back one day.

1. Register and Forget
2. Lounge
3. why do you care?

Huge waste of time trying to delete them all when they can just sit there.

Because it's so damn hard to find members in that list now. Besides, about 80% of members on that list haven't even posted. Why register and not post?

And how many people do you see with 0 posts that only post in the lounge, practically no one!

That's what the search function and arranging the members by number of posts in descending order are for.

You could script a quick bot to, "Delete all members with 0 posts." but then, if it went wrong and accidently delated say, a4yo, it wouldn't be a big deal.

Who the hell are you to be caring about this stuff, Think? For all the time you're laming about this and whining about that, you could go and save some starving African kids. In America.

Why would you think anyone would be on your side? You should "thinkto urself" next time.

Why do we care about members with zero posts/why should we bother deleting them? I don't see what the big deal is.

I do delete unconfirmed accounts (people who have never clicked on the link in their activation e-mail) from time to time, that's all.

Inactive and Pending members will be removed after 55 days.
Do the inactive members actually get kicked after 55 days?(can't access the members page atm to see how many with 0 posts and more than 55 days).

It's inactive + pending = never clicked the confirm account link that was sent to the email chosen during the registration process.

The rules say 55 days but they really get deleted "When FLAB remembers to do it"

I haven't done it in a long time, I just deleted a few hundred of these accounts.  The only unactivated ones that remain now are from 2008.

Not quite that many, but I did just axe a ton of unactivated accounts.
