I've wondered for a while Soldat doesn't tell you when someone drops the alpha / bravo flag. Maybe it should?

I think that it would affect players who try to lure out the last player [in R/S matches] by grabbing their flag and throwing it away.

Screw R/S!

...yeah I know it'd be unfair for their community, but I myself as a realistic scene's public-server player support this.

actually I'm generally unsatisfied by the flag information handed out in soldat. A lot of times if I'm holding the flag, waiting for ours to be returned so I can score, I won't even notice when it's back unless I'm standing there looking straight at it. I think it should be way more visible..
I fucking miss all you cunts!

* BombSki votes for removing the 'major has captured the flag' message completely

You could do that, Bombski, by removing the appropriate line in your [language].txt file...

You can tell when someone drops it if you're aware of who the EFC is and can see his name on the kill console.

However, this is a good idea, it rounds out the information already given, and I don't think it can hurt at all. This would make people more aware of when flags are loose, and for those who play in CW/Gather/Upper level it changes nothing.

The decision then is that: does the message only appear when the EFC is KILLED,  when he THROWS the flag, or both? Would it say:

Player lost the Red Flag. (killed)
Player threw the Red Flag. (thrown)
Player dropped the Red Flag. (generic, for both maybe)

Tehsnipah, no more annoying than any of the other flag messages and again they can be eliminated by editing the txt file.

In short, I think this suggested is extremely well founded, and would round off the seeming lack of flag information provided to the player.

Ew, it would make people too aware. Soldat is a tactical game to some degree, no point in giving away every single information about the flags. If you have a good team, they'll tell you anyway when they see a dropped flag. This droppage message would make things just too easy IMO.

Ok, and while we're at it, let's put a timer up for everyone so they know when the flag is about to be returned. And another message for when the flag is actually returned (without anyone touching it). And another message for when the flag gets shot away from the flag area. And another message for when a flag bugs and somehow gets returned!

Nah, I personally don't like this. You can tell when an EFC dies by checking the killlog. And if the flag is thrown, it's either going to get picked up or returned. F11.

I'm still sticking with my guns in that flag return messages will "dumb down" the game. It's one of those things that separates a competent aware player from a sloppy triggerhappy dweeb.

Team communication.
It's not soldat's fault that your team can't tell you where the Flagger is.
This is just unnecessary.
Lol, internets.

Screw you! You gotta have good team communication. If your too lazy taunt it. If you got all the taunt button used Type it. Or just  screw you team. Maybe thois could be a messange for only one team.
So its a F11.5 for this.
But theres waaay more important stuff to do.

No, then the other team will hound for it
