'game improvement' improvement
« on: June 09, 2006, 01:03:14 pm »
After a while of active talking within a topic in the game improvement section MM himself should come in and put his concluding thoughts in it and then the topic would get moved to a sub-section labeled 'concluded' or something like that.  These finishing thoughts should be like:  " ::) This is too difficult and not worth the time to implement.  I must focus on more important issues"  -OR-  " :D This is a great and simple idea and would add much more fun to the game!"  That way, we know what the Master himself thinks...

I wish this would happen. It'd allow us to know when to stop beating a dead horse in terms of an idea or know when to expand upon one. Unfortunately, I don't think MM has enough time to go through each post in a thread, read them all, and then reply, or else he'd be doing it already. :(

this would be great, but indeed, MM would never do all that :p
I think he's quite a lazy guy (no offence, I like lazyness)

There have been a number of quotes from him about there not being any vehicles added or weapon type changes, but that still doesn't stop people from suggesting and/or complaining about the same.

I do agree that more official input from the man himself would be nice, but it would be quite time-consuming.

A nice thought, but we'll leave it up to him to decide what he wants to do

I'd like this too, I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on one of my ideas, but I don't know what good it does if someone important doesn't see it, you know? But it's true, it's hardly practical for Mr. M to go through and read every suggestion.

I think he does read them, or at least skims them. He probably just can't find the time to reply to them all, but the good ones will likely stick in his mind.

And then in the next version, people will be proud if their idea was implemented :P

yeah, and in the manual it should show the ppl's names that came up with the idea in the version history...

but still xurich, if he does skim then and keeps the good ones in mind, then he should at least reply with a finalizing comment for those at least...  a sub-section where all the good ideas go into that, when he gets time, he'll do them*

Yes, MM is registered. It says that he's made two posts, but they're not viewable, so they're probably on a private forum somewhere. :P

Because we all know that a polish man in his twenties has nothing better to do than to reply to ideas which were written in horrible grammar and otherwise have no rational fundaments, or otherwise are just plain retarded.

Amen to that.
Although I would like this, I don't think he would spend all of that time doing it.
Nice thought though...

So tell me again:  What is the point of having these forums if no useful person (no offense to us) is going to read this?

As I said already, MM probably reads them but doesn't have the time to reply personally to each one. And even supposing he doesn't read any of them, I'm sure most of the beta testers do, and they in turn pass the good ideas along to MM when the time comes.

The beta testers read it, and incase MM has missed something insanely awesome, we approach him on the subject. Sometimes we even bribe him with cookies if he's wants to implement something stupid ( like fixing the netcode. We can't let him do that, there would be no need for beta testers anymore! ).

more servers with ranking system (like U13 has)
or even better, a main ladder system that works with the lobby. could work if Soldat would deliver an automatic generated player ID that doesnt change even if you change your name (kinda like Steam ID).

that's my fantasy ever since i moved to soldat from Red Alert 2.

o red alert - love it!
you probably mean an ID system like in Gunz...
anyways, if beta testers have a say in what comes in and what would never be, then they should put that finalizing reply stating "I will definitely tell Michal of this" or "Michal has better things to worry about"  and then end the topic once and forever
