Safari
« on: March 22, 2008, 11:02:14 am »
Anyone using the Safari Browser?  I've just started using it since Apple auto updater suggested I try the 3.1 version.  I really like how it looks and the way it smoothes out the text, looks really nice when i compare it to firefox.  I'm also running the Firefox 3 beta 4, and they run at about the same speed, which is impressive considering how the beta is supposed to be the fastest firefox yet.

I would suggest that you guys try it out, if just for how pretty it makes the text :D

You can set fonts in firefox, and change the skin, why switch?

Word on the streets is that it does pretty well on the Acid3 test...

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

Windows.  That is the only OS with an Apple auto updater that would suggest using Safari.

Because some special people decide to use something better (in their opinion of course) than firefox. Hence why I use Opera.

I smell an Opera vs. Firefox war brewing here.

I don't like Opera as its a resourse hog, where as FireFox is much nicer to my system. I've used Safari on Macs, and it is pretty much close to using Internet Explorer...

Doesn't anyone use Firefox anymore?

For me its the other way around, FireFox eats my resources and runs slow on my older computers and opera runs really fast.

Well if you can make one exactly like the other plus open source add ons, why would anyone want to switch?

I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium, pure bloatware, but it looks pretty  [retard]

Here's a screenshot comparison.  Obviously, view it in full size to see the difference.

does the text always look that blurry or is that just the lossless .png file you saved it as?

It looks that blurry, I'm using Safari now. Well, you can select the grade of "blur" though.

No.

Also...

Right click on your desktop > Properties > Appearance > Effects... > "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts" >Clear Type

Will give you the same text effects safari has. This is not unique or original at all.
