No, your brain is a pretzel.

Screenshot or it never happened!
Or draw it.

The plane can take off because of the way it moves. The propeller/jet engine pushes the plane forward using backwards thrust, when the plane gets to a certain speed, the flow of air over the wing causes an upward push on the craft (lift).

Wasn't the plane supposed to be on a conveyor belt that runs as fast as the plane, making it stationary?
no, it just causes the wheels to spin under the plane, the plane itself receives very little of the backwards force.

Stop talking about the wheels, I haven't said anything about them.

The rotors/turbines make the plane go forward by sucking in air. The resistance of the wings against the air creates lift that makes the plane fly. If the plane is stationary, the wings don't get any lift.

But, the plane is NOT stationary.

False.

the plane is stationary

False.

Why would the airplane be stationary if the engine's pushing it forward at 60 mph?

Because it's on a goddamn conveyor belt that's running in the opposite direction at the same speed!

Why would that have any effect on the speed the airplane's going at?

Holy bollocks. I've argued with idiots before, but you just blew my mind in a way I thought was impossible.

This is WHY we were talking about the function of the wheels on a plane.

As a LOT of people have said, the wheels effectively neutralize the groundspeed. If the airplane is unpowered, yes, it'll move backwards at the rate of the conveyor belt. But as soon as the aircraft is powered, the medium [air] will become the reference point for the aircraft's true velocity. As the conveyor belt doesn't move the air above it, the conveyor belt's speed becomes irrelevant.

The wheels nullify that point. the conveyor belt only spins the wheels faster, but since the plane doesn't rely on spinning the wheels forward for power, it can move forward/take off.

It seems that the harder we try to drive in the point the more idiots-who-don't-know-how-airplanes-work flock here.

using the picture attatched, i will explain to the dumb guys why the airplane will lift off.

First, what the funny lines and shapes represent.

The two black lines with an arrow represent the conveyor belt, the large blue box is the Fuselage, the green box is the engines, the red circles are the wheels, the pink square represents the air, and the maroon squiggle represents thrust from the engines as i they were a spring.

Now, in the case of the airplane, the green box would generate thrust, and would push against the pink box (the air) like if you put a gigantic spring between them. the wheels would spin as the plane moves over the conveyor belt, the force of the conveyor belt would just make the wheels spin faster. So, if you made that picture in real life with wooden blocks and a spring, what would happen? thats right, the blue block would go zooming off even though the conveyor belt is going the wrong way. Now because the blue block, the fuselage is going at 100km/h, the wings (not drawn on) would generate lift and the plane would take off.
