are we supposed to debate about global warming now or should you just have put that in the link dump?
Yes, I didn't go into much detail because I was tired and cranky :P.

Meh...Earth has warmed and cooled before.  Not so sure our "footprint" is as clear cut as people make it out to be.

Then again, I don't care much for climate change or any of the science behind it.  Just not my bag.

Somebody needs to build an arc that can hold 2 of each species, a male and a female!

Humans are responsible for accelerating global warming, we've known this for 30 years and yet we're failing to do anything drastic enough to change it.

Vote for alternative energies you selfish barstewards.
We can't change it.
Even if we wanted to, we couldn't.
Just like we didn't create it, we can't stop it.

H*ll yeah its scary! Because theres nothing new to it! Its just sligtly bigger than most of them. Ok this ones the biggest but still it happends too often.

@Hair|Trigger No this is what you get for letting people burn all that oil. We need Militant global warming activists (migth be abit harsh but i dont think people will adapt to the situasion. Atleast not most American and Chinese people.)

Well now theres one change. Humans are behind this (if your not alien that is). Theres simple math to proove that you just have to check the Co2 consentration in the air. And the Co2 consentration in the ice at antarctis/Any other long time frozen ice. There sould be mush more in the air bacause i dont think that the neandertals burnt coal and drove cars.

While you have a point, you don't give enough credit to the natural cycles of the planet itself.  CO2 is released in mass quantities from, among other things, process related to organic matter and microbial life, as well as volcanic and other geologic processes.  Spikes in CO2 due particularly drastic geologic events are not uncommon.  As are global scale heatings and coolings, all of which have happened without mans intervention.

Long story short, CO2 levels have risen and fallen in comparison to modern levels for millions of years previously.  It's nothing new.

Do you know how the diagram looks? I found something on wikipedia, Here. I'm not sure if this is correct but wikipedia is pretty mush  a reliable source. On the diagram to the right it might not seem clear. But the diagram is showing thousand's of years. So one pixel on that diagram is allot. Might not be too distorted though,
But who knows what the consequence's can be. But you do have a point.
Were closing in...

Oh and about that volcano thing. that's not very important because the Co2 is probably (don't have a clue but it figures.) is at least the double Co2 whats the word? You get it..

How can you say that. You measured it? You must be stupid! (sorry for flame). But if you look at that red line that's the dust level in the air. Meaning Volcanic polluting and other similar things that is making the air filthy. And the Co2 is keeping the same level.
That's what's wrong. Maybe you just look at a diagram 5 seconds longer next time. Who knows thinking might be the next big step in human evolution.
Oh and i found this. the weird thing about this one is that it's totally opposite to global warming. But that's in a very large scale.

Yes, I've seen plenty of diagrams.  But you have to more than look at the diagram, you need to look critically at the data to see if the diagram is even worth anything, for starters.

Additionally, there are multiple diagrams on the page you linked to.  Which one are you speaking about?  I'm guessing it's this one:

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Carbon_Dioxide_400kyr.png

Let's talk about this graph, shall we?  For starters, it only goes back 400 thousand years.  When you're talking about a plant that has had water/ice and an atmosphere for a few billion years then this is not a large chunk of time.  I realize there are limits to ice core data, however.  But they get around that with this insert up top, and emphasize their point, by only paying attention to the past 1000 years!  And OMG there's a huge increase in CO2 at the end of that 1000 years and OMG that's when the machines began to rule the Earth, it's global warming!!

Not really.

Look at how cyclic each rise and call in CO2 is on this chart.  Which, by the way, doesn't even go back far enough to look at times when levels of CO2 were MUCH much higher (10-15x ? during the Jurassic).  So, the Earth has seen, without human intervention, periods of millions of years with CO2 levels estimated to be over 3750 ppmv (as opposed to the ~375 ppmv max on the graph).  Conditions during the Jurassic were really somethin' else.

Next, one pixel is not that long of a period of time.  You can gather that from the scale at the bottom, which is only in thousands of years.  So, it's less than a thousand years.

And I never said we're "closing in" on anything.  If anything, I inferred that this is just part of the natural cycle of things.  Humans may have a hand in accelerating that to a point, but the rise and fall of CO2 and the results that has on temperature are nothing new to this planet.

I could go on, but I'd rather address your most recent post.

You're really making no sense here.  CO2 is not keeping on the same level in any of these plots, truthfully, unless you take the skewed insert seriously (which you shouldn't) as the period of time indicated is so brief that any shift would cause a similar plot.

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Five_Myr_Climate_Change.png

The reason that plot is "opposite to global warming" would most likely have to do with the nature of ice to take in certain oxygen isotopes preferentially (O18 vs O16).  So, when the ice melts less of the heavier isotope (I believe) is locked away in ice.  This changes the overall ratio in the air, until such times where climate shifts again and oxygen is either locked away or allowed to roam the atmosphere.

If this interests you, I would recommend sifting through some journal articles on the subject instead of Wiki.  I think you'd learn a lot from it, and can be a very interesting topic at times.  But, like I've said, not my bag - my geologic interests rest elsewhere.

Good day.  [retard]

Like you said we accelerated it TO A POINT. It's not as if we created it and there's no way in hell buying fancy cars that run on water and using solar energy can stop it. The earth, like everything else does run in cycles, Take the ice age for example if the earth didn't move in cycles, we'd all still live in a frozen landscape, because it would be FIXATED as a cold climate, it's not.

Your theory is slightly flawed by stating humans are the only contributors to global warming.
Quote
Methane is a relatively potent greenhouse gas with a high global warming potential of 72 (averaged over 20 years) or 25 (averaged over 100 years) [1]. Methane in the atmosphere is eventually oxidized, producing carbon dioxide and water. As a result, methane in the atmosphere has a half life of seven years (every seven years, the amount of methane halves).

The abundance of methane in the Earth's atmosphere in 1998 was 1745 parts per billion, up from 700 ppb in 1750. In the same time period, CO2 increased from 278 to 365 parts per million. The radiative forcing effect due to this increase in methane abundance is about one-third of that of the CO2 increase[1]. In addition, there is a large, but unknown, amount of methane in methane clathrates in the ocean floors. Global warming could release this methane, which could cause a further sharp rise in global temperatures. Such releases of methane may have been a major factor in previous major extinction events. The Earth's crust also contains huge amounts of methane.

See, C02 is not the ozone destructor of death you are claiming it to be, Methane is in much larger quantities then C02. Even though it halves, The amount of it is still a hell of a lot larger then C02. Also, what produces methane? Cows do. how many cows does america have on it's own? I would hazard a guess at a damn lot, which means, that's a lot of methane.

we all have many great ideas in stopping global warming
but the the truth is , we cannot stop it :(

Not all people in the world will follow all the measurements in stopping global warming. They'll just think for themselves they dont care what will happen in the world, they care about the money they make. Do you think oil companies will stop digging oil? its a NO. And why does the other countries government have no full support in electric powered cars or water powered cars? why? Because gasoline will make them more money than electric or water in powering cars or motors.

Well if you ignore the fact that those types of energies are not as efficient as burning coal. Coal may not be the cleanest, But it is one of the most efficient fuels. I don't think it produces a lot of waste( which is Diesel anyway, and they sell that too) and we've had how many years to perfect it's energy output?

I agree with pretty much everything Geo said. Like the medieval warm peroid. This is kind of a debated topic, but at listen Europes average temperatures increased for a fairly long time. At the same time, most of the technology invented/hopefully will be invented are very useful in many ways. Not using as much/any oil, for example, is a good idea for quite a few reasons, and some new technologies like hydrogen fuel cells would be a great alternative if all the bugs are worked out. Not all the ideas, in my opinion, to "fix global warming" are good, though. So to answer the threads main question, no I'm not too worried about the ice caps melting, its happened before.
