EnEsCe: Question, is the "Choose Map" function going to have an easier way to navigate with this update?

Basically, what I'm wondering is if it'll be easier to cycle through maps in order to pick one out, as currently it does take ages to attempt to vote a map you wish to vote for on the server you're on, as you have to cycle through all your maps to find it. With players that have a larger map list, this could take quite some time to do.

I'm thinking something simple, like a search function that lets you type in the name of the map, or the letter it starts with or something, and it jumps you to that part of the list. SOMETHING to make that whole process easier.

I was just curious is all, as a few people were discussing this with me not too long ago and they seemed to agree it would be a bit convenient. Again, was just curious to hear if anything had been done to help with that particular area of the game.

I think you should post this in the suggestion section, however there should be something like /vote map ctf_blabla to start the vote instead of having to browse the whole map folder! (unless it already exists !!)

It already exists. And has existed for a while.

/votemap, ie: /votemap ctf_Run

it's case sensitive though.

Case sensitive is pretty nasty when you cant really remember every single map name and how they were written. If possible, a tiny map preview pic like the minimap feature would be great on a wide and big vertical list of the maps when you hold your cursor over a specific map name.

About those animated GIFs... Will we be able to control that animation? I mean, can we control when that animation starts 'playing' (via scripting of course)? It would be cool - imagine a street, you walk near a lamp and it lights up automatically. ;)

But still, a feature towards a new future! And I sure do thank the Soldat-team for that :)

And another thing, how long animation length are we talking here? Possibility for infinite loop and such?

I'd guess it uses an image library which would respect such attributes, yes.  EnEsCe can tell you for sure, though

Frames are played back exactly as a webbrowser would do it more or less; supports per-frame delay and loop count, plus infinite looping.

I can't wait to see people who fill a map with .gif scenery and make it lag.

I cannot agree with you more.  This is a feature that will completely change Soldat.  Like PolyWorks had done, and with the Mod Starter.  This will effect Soldat in a positive and negative way.  I just hope it isn't overdone or abused and totally ruin mapping like it already is.

I really think Randomization Check should be added for maps like with Loop Maps.  Everything sounds great so far.  I think this will be the best version yet.  Great work EnEsCe, take a vacation when you're done, you've earned it.

Added female gosteks with breasts and pigtails. :( aw

Can't wait to start using this. Sadly, I didn't buy Soldat yet but with this new features, I might join when 1.5 comes out.

Learn to read... EnEsCe said breasts and pigtails are an April fools joke...
