The current status of the beta is basically its all compiled and finalized, ready to rock, just waiting on MM to create an installer.

Will that mean another 2-4 months waiting? :D

MM now finished his new film Predator vs MM, so he will be back very soon and after it he can create installer and beta will be ready for us. ;)

Yes they do, but those can't respond quicly enough. E.g. one can spread links to malicious files and unaware players will download and execute them, thinkin they are for example hacks. Operators can't do anything really, unless they can filter the chat, which is more than unlikely to happen.

With this chat, unwanted waste in Soldat is going to spread much faster, if no working action towards it is taken.

Don't really need to. There will be plenty of admins online in the chat to ban these people, dynamic IP or not. Now stop being negative in this topic.

Will the chat server be able to be accessed from outside irc clients?

It can be very easy evaded, for example: http://www.something.com/soldatreg.reg can be written as w*w*w*.something.c*om/*soldat*r*e*g.r*eg.URLs can be used for spreading good mods, etc. so better way are channel operators than censored web addresses.

I've already thought about all that sort of crap. We'll just have to wait and see how things go when its public.

Just curious, because I'm not 100% on this sort-of thing, but if a person posts a link, albeit posted to get around the link ban, would ops be able to simply delete the record of the link's posting? Or, at least, have a command that posts enough spaces into the window that it effectively pushes the link off the screen so it can no longer be viewed? I mean, if they ban the person quick enough and get the link off the screen, that could work fairly easily.

Moreover, when the link is posted, will it be able to be taken down by contacting the site's ISP and informing them that the site is hosting warez like that? Of course, depending on the country it's hosted in, but yeah. Just wondering.

What bothers me is people like you who complain that they can't wait for anything, they must have everything NOW. Too bad, life isn't that way, be patient.

1.4.3 (nowadays known as 1.5) was meant to be a fix release to fix issues in 1.4.2. Issues like ctf_Nuubia, and other maps, and few minor glitches. However, making such a release would've needed an installer(omg!) and thus it never happened. As time passed, more and more features got added. More and more bugs were added also. Then the name changed to 1.5. On last day of August 2007 MM informed Beta testers that he will be releasing 1.4.3. Nothing got released. Open Beta of 1.5 was supposed to start "in few weeks" since April. We are still waiting..

The problem is that bugs can't be fixed. Not even maps. No new releases can be made, everything get delayed, multiple times. Meanwhile, new features get added, which bring new bugs. Really, EnEsCe & MM, why couldn't you just make 1.4.3 to fix the minor flaws and maps, and add the new WM?

Also more frequent releases would mean less hacking, but guess people rely on BE too much, which is very sad.
