Don't go ATi if you want it to overheat. Your better off with Nvidia, coz they just rock with any game I wouldn't dare go anywhere under a 256mb video card, and if you've got some money to burn, get a 512mb or higher. How are you playing games on Linux anyway? Windows partition?
My problem is that the card can't be much wider or thicker than this.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150229 - This NVIDIA Geforce 8600 might just be small enough. Might.
It supports DX10, will play Crysis at Med-High settings with a decent framerate. Sure, you really won't be getting super high settings with 16x AA, 720000x640000 resolution and dynamic menstruation physics, but you'll be able to run most new games and have way more fun than I'm having with my computer.
Honestly, I refuse to go with ATI because my motherboard is intended for geforces and ATI has bollocksty Linux drivers. Please only suggest NVidia cards.
