People can't join my server...
« on: April 05, 2008, 02:51:18 pm »
OK, first of all, I tried to resolve this for about 3 hours, I need help :/

the only thing I was able to do is bringing 0/6 on the server connection tester to 5/6.

here is the last result:
Code: [Select]
Soldat Connection Tester - by EnEsCe - http://enesce.com/
OK. Please wait while we test your server configuration... (This may take up to 2 minutes)
Checking IP Address validity... PASS!

Step One: Ingame Connectivity Test
(?) Sending PING test to 99.252.49.64 on UDP Port 23073... PASS! (260ms)
(?) Sending REQUEST test to 99.252.49.64 on UDP Port 23073... PASS!
(?) Sending JOIN GAME test to 99.252.49.64 on UDP Port 23073... PASS!
Step Two: All-Seeing Eye Test
(?) Sending test to 99.252.49.64 on UDP Port 23196... PASS! (260ms)
Step Three: Remote Administration
(?) Sending test to 99.252.49.64 on TCP Port 23073... FAILED!
Step Four: Map Download Connections
(?) Sending test to 99.252.49.64 on TCP Port 23083... PASS!

TEST RESULTS:
- Total Passed: 5/6
- UDP Check: check
- ASE Check: check
- Admin Check: error
- Download Check: check
- Final Test Result: FAILED! Please check your network configuration.

I have a Gateway SMC8014W-G modem, which seems to have NAT. I have set the port following for soldat (Which is what gave me the 5/6 result)

and now, I don't know how to make the remote administration to work. Can anyone help me?
I use windows XP sp2.
I use soldat (1.4.2) itself to make the server, which means I am hosting it from my computer.
I tried to join the server with another computer, and I couldn't join, the country was "?" and the ping "9999"

note: may not be important, but when I used to have dial-up, this wasn't a problem

For remote admin not working: if you don't have a password set, for security, the remote admin is disabled, and won't respond.

Certain routers can't handle joining  with a WAN IP (ie: from the lobby) from inside the network; you need to manually enter the LAN IP of the machine to connect to it.

oh right... the admin password... Now I remember I red that somewhere, I guess I just forgot it. Sorry.

But one last question, Do you mean like people from within my network won't be able to join using the lobby, but people outside will?

ok, thank you. This isn't much of a problem for me anyway.

And sorry for bothering with such questions
