!Elite Snipe and Slice - Demo Challenge
« on: April 05, 2008, 04:59:16 pm »
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Demo Challenge Update]

my eyes burn from reading all that...

I CHALLENGE YOU TO DO DEMO BATTLE, MOTHAFCKER !!  HELL, I CHALLENGE ALL OF YOU BARRETT USERS OUT THERE !! RULES UPDATED ! >:(

The rules are simple. Teamdeathmatch, Kill 2 impossible bots in Bigfalls as fast as possible, without dying, 10 kills limit, using only Barrett and Knife. No grenades. Record a demo, upload it in this thread, and show me how much you OWN !

------------LONEWOLF CHALLENGE-----------

***UPDATED RULES***
*Bigfalls Map
*2 Impossiblebots - 10kills 0 death -
NO BOT WEAPON SETTING, BOTS USE ALL WEAPONS, SO YOU LEARN HOW TO DEAL WITH EACH WEAPON AND HAVE DIFFERENT COMBAT SCENARIOS
*No Spawn Kills
*No Grenades
*Should use Barrett, Knife if needed
(like if you miss the shot)
*Camping is fine, Charging is better

If you beat my demo, I'll run around while playing Soldat
and I'll yell out "I GOT OWNED BY (yourname) I SUCK !!!" or "anything u want me to yell" for a month.
  ;D

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been using the Barrett and Knife extensively, since the early days of Soldat. The long range .50 cal explosive power of the Barrett, and the close range lightning-quick-beheadings of the Knife is a very powerful combination.

So here I would just like to share my experiences, on how to adopt the Barrett and Knife style. (Included demos)

There are 2 combat forms in the Barrett and Knife style.

The first is Camping. First you find a suitable position that is along the enemy route, has some terrain cover, and camp-kill the enemy. With proper use of the scope and estimation of the enemy's movement, along with the "feel" of the bullet curve, one can kill 10 enemies before the need to reload.
The Knife can be used as a backup weapon whenever the need arises, as you clock your Barrett, or reload.

Your ultimate goal is to shoot 10 enemies down with 10 clips, as fast as possible. Example included in demo far below.    [retard]

The second is Charging. Only after Camping has been mastered should you move on to this level. Just two things, fast movement and swift shots. Fast movement are a series of back-flips, bunnyhops, and wise use of terrain. Swift Shots is basically just holding the trigger while you move.

Your ultimate goal is to charge and kill 10 enemies with 10 clips, but chances are that you will get binked or miss a shot, so you must resort to lightning-quick-Knife attacks to compensate. Example shown in demo.    [retard]

Training can be done in Bigfalls, Team-deathmatch with 1 Alpha bot set to impossible mode. Choose Bravo for ideal combat position. Set kills to 10, and gradually increase the Alpha bots number as desired. NO GRENADES, only Barrett and Knife. Training only takes less than 5 minutes, and really helps you stay in top form.   ;)

It's really fun to adopt a new fighting style, and I hope this helps !
(Visit !Elite Snipe and Slice servers, it's super fun !) ;D

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To play demo, download and save them in your Demos folder in C:\Soldat.
Then right-click your Soldat.exe(icon), go to Properties, and paste this in the target tab.

C:\Soldat\Soldat.exe -demo demoname 1 100 0 0

Example:
C:\Soldat\Soldat.exe -demo Camping 1 100 0 0
C:\Soldat\Soldat.exe -demo Charging 1 100 0 0

Then just double-click on Soldat.exe(icon) and run the demo. Enjoy.  ;D

Nice little tut, Wolf. Hope it helps out the new barrett users. Demo's were a good addition.

Camping is boring and means nothing in real game. :E

Btw, bots are stupid. They act like complete retards and can be killed by everyone... I suggest public for such training, as people *sometimes* try to counter brt.

Looks like this is going to be a nice tut after all.

One more point to note: Bots won't be a very good way to train your camping skills (they are bots, they can ALWAYS see you hiding in bushes). So I think its better to play online a bit more often when a certain level is reached.

Ye, ye.
Camping is useless in a real game, because most of the pros modify the bush/tree/grass/col sceneries in the often played maps, so they can kill you, before you aim your barrett at them.
Also, barrett is pretty much just a public servers weapon, ofcourse you can use it on gathers/cws if you want to brag with your aiming skills.

Geekier than you!

Well the purpose of aiming against bots is to train your aim, and estimation of the target.
You can't expect to aim at fast moving players efficiently, if you can't even shoot down slow moving bots first.  ;)

Camping can be great for defense, and discouraging enemies. If you watched the demo, I can stay in one position, out in the open(no need for bushes), and kill 2 constant incoming enemies with all 10 shots. Just good defense.  ;D

Also, eventhough you may say that bots are retards, these barstewards can be nasty. They can shoot me in the face 100% with all shots accurately if I'm not careful. If you watched the Charging demo, there's this Barrett User ALMOST KILLING ME WITH A BARRETT SHOT. IT SLICED AND CUT MY HAIR, LITERALLY. AND THAT STEYR DUDE ALMOST BLOODY KILLED ME I HAD A PINCH WORTH OF LIFE LEFT. It wasn't easy.....  >:(

Curious, did you guys watch the demo ?  :'(

Sorry man I can't watch demos. I don't know what program to get to view it and I'm gonna go offline for a period of time.

Ya I know, its really hard to fight Impossible bots with 100% accuracy, and worse if they throw nades. Yes I know how hard it is, I already find it a major problem when I'm playing against my own zombies alone in my personal zombie mod. There were Fist, Chainsaw (infinite ammo and only 1 fireinterval, but as short as in Soldat 1.2.1), Knife (slashing lol) and LAW zombies (firing rate is same as Barret, shoots LAW missile at LAW bullet speed), some of them always throw nades. It's hard enough to dodge those LAWs and their annoying and their annoying nades. If I modified their LAWs with 550 bullet speed, I'm going to get hit all the time already.

Back On Topic:
Ya... bots are a good way to practise speed and a bit of aim. Humans = good way to practise once fighting against bots becomes easy.

Yeah I did.

Bots suck because they can't hit moving target (unless it's close-mid range).

Nope, most pros know where people usually camp and usually shoot a few bullets there to check if someone's over there. Or if they know if someone's already there they'll spray to bink the camper or force them to retreat.

Just to clarify, this is mainly for use in the !Elite Snipe and Slice servers.   [retard]

Gathers and clan wars are a different case, but the Barrett can still be used if it's in the right hands.
You just need to know how to angle your shot whenever someone sprays, take him out before he can even see you... then steal his weapon, dual use primary weapons, and possess the same auto-abilities as the enemy and yet the long range firepower of the Barrett. Plus, the time it takes to run around can be used to efficiently clock your Barrett. Dual-Use primary weapons is the ultimate style.   8)

Also, my training method puts repetition into place. Repetition, and training, is the key to mastering anything. With the constant flow of bots, battles are always happening, and you don't have to wait for enemies to appear. You don't have to deal with people complaining either.  ;D

Good guide, would help if I liked the Barrett.  In Snipe and Slice I just camp and piss people off.  Barrett tends to only work the alt route, in gathers. Unless of course you are Shady.

The knife damage depends on it's speed. If you hold "F" longer you can throw harder, and if you move faster you can also increase it's damage.

I play as Despa|r nowadays, I'm not good enough to deserve the LoneWolf title anymore.
It was given to me after all, a long time ago.................. but it's a long story.

Anyways, I included instructions on how to access the demo, please read my first post above.

the name is given to you because you are never in a clan?

barrett is pretty easy/powerful/efficient once you learn how to "flick" aim.

It's a long story, but it was one of my most memorable Soldat moments.
It happened a few years ago but I still remember it clearly.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The title LoneWolf, one who hunts alone, stronger than the pack, was earned.

One day, back when I was still new, a Major, I entered a 100-scorelimit-deathmatch in
Cambodia with about 10 players, where skilled soldiers with Autos were getting
double-kills and triple-kills everywhere. I was a sh|tty camper, and got shot
whenever I was discovered.

As I was dying, bleeding like crap, I ran into a cave in the map to get health.
I just crouched in the cave, zooming, looking outside at the chaos and blood spilling.
Afraid. So damn afraid. I didn't wanna die.

There were 3 different entrances to my Cave. Soon intruders came. I slowly took
out intruders one by one with my Barrett, desperately. Sometimes with a grenade
and Socom. I killed and killed in order to survive. Everyone who entered the cave, I killed.
When I was hurt, I took health, took grenades. Everyone wanted revenge and kept coming for more.
With great struggle, I reached 80 kills. Then people started avoiding the cave, and I actually had to venture
out and kill some. When I retreated to my Cave, no one followed.

I smiled. The thought and fear of dying didn't even occur to me anymore. Everyone was just walking target practice. I was completely invincible. I had streaming endorphins and adrenaline, and were completely immersed and focused in the battle. It was fun.

In the end, I killed 100 soldiers and won..... with my Barrett, and a stream of comments
followed.

.
.
"Congrats man"
.
.
"fecking major get a name"
.
.
"Bs"

A lot of people left the game, because they felt really annoyed.

Then someone said along all the comments......
"You're one mad lonewolf. ;)"

It all clicked. The ferocity of a LoneWolf, hunting alone, and the place I fought for survival was similar to a wolf's den.
The fact that people were leaving the game because I was there, the loneliness....LoneWolf.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Told you, it's a long story ! Eventhough I didn't screenshot that moment, it will always stick with me.  ;D

Now I'm much weaker than a pack of wolves out there.... bloody Autos got stronger.... so the name doesn't fit anymore. :'(  :'(  :'(

The knife holding power thing is complete and utter crap, while it does work on occasion. You'll have to see one of my floppy knives, tap the toss button and it drops down, it tends to work amazingly.

Edit: heres a couple of demos, haven't see em in awhile, just ripped them from Bone Collector's demo moving topic thingy.
