Custom Weapons (Soldat Mod Part Change Redux)
« on: July 20, 2006, 02:57:08 pm »
So a long time ago, in this topic obviously, I asked whether people would be interested in me redoing my old Fan App (this). Then I proceeded to go to college and completely forget about it. In any case, I finally got around to remaking it. Since edak already has a mod that does much the same stuff, minus the weapons, I just went ahead and just did the weapon part of it.

Download here.

Screens as soon as I get un-lazy.
Un-lazied:

Instructions (quoted from the included readme file):
Quote
Instructions:
1. Run the CW.jar file. The default path is C:\Games\Soldat. If that is not where Soldat is installed, change that first and restart.
2. To change the path, use the change path button and select your Soldat.exe file.
3. Edit the interface gfx using the edit button on the left. Select the .bmp file you wish to use.
4. Edit the in-game gfx using the edit button on the right. Select the \weapons-gfx\ folder of the mod that you wish to use the graphics from.
5. Load both interface and in-game from the same mod using the load button. Select the folder of the mod you wish to use.
6. Hit the create mod to create the custom mod. The files will be copied to the \Mods\CustMod folder, and can be run using the included .bat file.

Misc:
Thanks to Richard Osbaldeston for his BMP library: http://www.osbald.co.uk/java/bmp/

Edit:
Oh yeah, you need the latest Java JRE: http://www.java.com/en/

Note: I really haven't tested it extensively (see why I don't have screens yet), so let me know if you find problems.

I don't see why you shouldn't.

Isn't there already a program called Soldat Mod Mixer?

Yes. Mod Mixer loads weaps and what not from mods as a whole (that is, you apply one mod to all weapons, one mod to all sounds, etc.), where as this loads individual pieces.

Edited to make more sense.

So long as it uses the new mod parameter that Soldat has.

Yeah, go for it.  My Soldat Mod Mixer is limited in that way (as suggested earlier) and I don't really have the inspiration to build it any more because I don't play any more.

I used this to start my l33t Custom Mod. Make it support sounds and name changes and I'm up for it. Yes, I'm lazy.

I guess editing doesn't bump to the top anymore. See first post for details.
